Lucia Valentina won the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (AUS-I) today. She is listed as brown but she sure looks black in this photo:

Rackumback Swifty was a winner at Indiana Grand R5 today. Three wins in 8 starts. No photo, just overheard that he's a registered black while TVG2 was playing in the background.

Lonhro really stamps his offspring. It's gotten to where I can usually spot his kids when I'm watching Aussie racing. :D

Is there interest in black Thoroughbreds from the past? I've got scads of what are registered as blacks in my 'dams of two or more classic winners' project. I'm afraid I have no photos of any of the horses in question. It's hard enough just finding the names! LOL!

Actually, I have scads of black horses in my project. Not oodles.

I Googled for some photos. It's interesting; when I first saw him I first thought him just a very dark grey because of his tail.

Not surprising that one might have thought she was grey; her grandsire was the lovely grey Linamix, who we lost recently.

Likely a gulastra plume type gene - lightens usually the tail only. Based on the telecast she looks pretty black.

I thought she was definitely grey...a steel grey with a silver tail. Her face had white hairs and her coat didn't look black.
Of course, without actually standing next to her, I'm just judging by a telecast...not exactly foolproof. :P

She's a tricky one!
I'm thinking Rabicano as a possibility as well...

And she is a stunner. Wonder what their plans are for her? Thought I heard something about her being a possible for the Arc. While the distance she ran today is shorter, the record for fillies in the Arc is quite good, so I hope we see her in France.
