There are a lot of nice stallion prospects in this group, a lot I want to succeed. It would be interesting to see Hansen do well and see if Coolmore exercises their option to buy him back.

I'd be surprised to see Union Rags or Gemologist top the freshman list, as I think their foals may do better as they get older, especially if they inherit their sires size.

Of the ones they have listed, I'd probably take Bodemeister.

I'm also interested in seeing how Maclean's Music does, he has his first starters this Friday. He was so brilliant in his only start, even though Santa Anita was a speedway that day. I have to think he had immense potential or he wouldn't be in Kentucky standing for $6k and getting quite a few mares. Though Distorted Humor really hasn't been a sire of sires.

I imagine with the success Tapit has been seeing over the past few seasons that if the Hansen's are runners we will see him back stateside so fast our heads will spin. They don't have anything even closely related to Tapit in their brochure and you know they would like to have that blood available for their breeders.

Oddly enough, the Coolmore roster is lacking on AP Indy line stallions - their only representative is Stay Thirsty.They're quite heavy on the Storm Cat line and I wonder why they have chosen to go that way?

I'm rooting for a lot of these guys. I would love to see Bode stamp his kiddos with an Empire Maker running form and his own trademark grittiness. I imagine Bode may develop over two or three crops more than as a freshman sire, though.

This is somewhat tangential, but I can't wait to see Tonalist's confo shot to see how he compares to the very lovely Tapizar (who is potentially a big steal at $15k if these predictions come to bear). Thick leggy sons of Tapit may be my true aesthetic.

I'm kind of unimpressed with Tapit son's as stallions to this point, although I did like a couple of Tapizars in the recent 2yo sales. Race Day, Tapiture, Constitution, Hansen, Trappe Shot, concord's point, flashback, et al.....no interest at all. Someone is really going to have to start producing runners before we'll fish around for a Tapit son to breed to. Full disclosure....we DID come close to going to Tonalist this year, but that was from a pure commercial perspective. Not breed to race.

I can think of two that used to stand at Coolmore. A.P. Valentine who was infertile(they retired him from stud and sold him, he has stood at various places after that) and Majestic Warrior who was sold to Japan. There might have been others, those were off the top of my head. Coolmore likes to go after fast maturing horses, which for the most part, A.P. Indy's foals were not. However, Coolmore ended up standing, to my knowledge, the only 2 G1SWing 2yo colts by him.

They do have Cupid in the wings though. He obviously doesn't have the credentials Hansen has on the track yet but does have a better female family than Hansen's. If they can get him a Grade 1 win, I'd be anything but surprised if he showed up on the stallion roster next year.
