I don't think visitors generally have a problem with her. She likes visitors because they bring treats I don't think those who work with her would describe her as a sweetheart.sweettalk wrote:?? is SS mean or something? she was fine when i saw her.

She almost grabbed hold of my arm, and I had a peppermint in my hand on the way to her mouth.mariasmon wrote:I don't think visitors generally have a problem with her. They've said several times that she doesn't seem to like women very much

Maybe her hormones are wonky? Some kind of subacute infection?
Give me that short lead, give me that win by a nose, get them all home safely!

Hm, I can see why they'd still try then. But weird, I imagine she's had all possible medical evals... and sad.mariasmon wrote:She's only 15.lurkey mclurker wrote:I dunno... if you slip three years in a row maybe nature is saying it's time to stop...? How old is Kind?

Taylor Made Farm
Champion producer Silken Cat, a treasure of the elite broodmare band of Aaron and Marie Jones, passed peacefully in her paddock on March 15, 2016. At 23 years of age, Silken Cat had been a beloved resident of Taylor Made Farm for over two decades.
A Champion Two Year Old in Canada, this beautiful daughter of Storm Cat displayed brilliance both on and off the track. She produced eleven foals that sold for a combined total of over $8,500,000 through the sales ring as yearlings.
Champion Sprinter Speightstown, Silken Cat’s eldest son by Gone West earned over $1,200,000 on the track, including a win in the 2004 Breeders' Cup World Championships Sprint (GI). Now standing at WinStar Farm, Speightstown makes a perennial appearance on the leading sires list.
On Monday March 14, Silken Cat’s youngest son by Tiznow was sold at OBS - Ocala Breeders' Sales March to Dennis O’Neill for $300,000. Her career as a broodmare ends as it began, with the promise of an exceptional colt. A lover of people, carrots, and peppermints, Silken Cat was adored by all who met her. She will be missed!

I think I found something reliable on Royal Delta's condition, however it's not good foal news:
Also, I'm so annoyed that she's going to Galileo again -__- I know they want a foal from him but I'm just getting deja vu (Rags to Riches anyone?)
Here's the link to where this was written, scroll down to the comments section. Again, I don't know how reliable this is but it seems likely that this did happen.Royal Delta is alive and well at Coolmore in Ireland. In her first breeding season she ended up not getting pregnant and then last year she did and was in foal to a filly. Unfortunately towards the end of last year she lost her foal due to umbilical cord complications I believe. She will again be going back to Galileo sometime this month and I am not sure what the plans are with her from there.

I knew enough that as I stood outside the barn and got her out of the he stall, to crinkle the peppermint wrapper.sweettalk wrote::O i must have caught her on a good day then!
They actually told me she was very patient that day, I spent about 20 minutes with her, lucky me!
Her groom is so in love with her.

Caution should always be exercised around a animal whose head can weigh more than you. Plenty of nice mares/Stallions- but mares can be really pissy.mariasmon wrote:I've visited Serena's Song 5-6 times and never had an issue with her, but I always exercise caution. Caution is appropriate around any horse, really, but she has a reputation. There are stallions who are a lot kinder.
