This is incredibly disturbing to me. Why bother breeding them if you are selling them to the kill buyers? Why breed a mare with messed up legs?

Video of some of the mares, don't watch if you don't want to see poor Open Zipper. She looks half starved and her front legs are awful. They think she may have to be put down but want to give her unborn foal a chance since she is so close to foaling.

The same person was the breeder of the last born foals of Murphy's Code, Lilly and Ice and Lovely Ness and just happens to own the stallions all 3 were bred to for this year. Coincidence? Doubtful.

I read about this yesterday, and it seems more people have filled in the comments. Two people involved in the rescue say that they've talked to the prior owner of the mares, Mr. Miller (I think that's who you're talking about), who sold them about 6 months ago. He is apparently assisting them, as he sold them to a woman in a private deal.
