Hey Diddle Diddle
2 "Cats" played a fiddle
And, One Cat got a silver spoon
Tho 2 Filly Cats ran hot
But At the Wire they were Not
Was a COLT Who jumped over the moon

Yeah yeah I know --
I'm no poet and I know it
So here is how the day went
Without a Rhyme in sight

Starting out from the gate it was Tiger Dancer
who took the early lead trying to repeat her victory from last time
Her lead didn't last very long

Catalina and Ruffian, along with Real Quiet & Stark
made it five across the track at the top of the stretch

For a while it was anybody's race to win
Until one colt decided enough was enough
And even though it wasn't a BOTS Day
He was determined to win glory for the Colts

As he left the field in his mighty wake
A few others were so far back they thought they saw Toto in Kansas

A couple of weeks ago Stark thought that
Every race was also a BOTS day

And he was so proud of having WON for the Colts that Saturday
only to find out that the Battle Of The Sexes (BOTS)
is only run every other Wednesday In Midweek Mayhem

Well today made up for that disappointment as he
annihilated the field with a powerful run
Almost gate to wire.....

But again, the Flying Fickle Finger Of Fate intervened

Even though it was a Wednesday
His luck failed because it was not a BOTS day
Must be Murphy's Racing Law?
But still an impressive powerful Win!

Catalina challenged Stark pretty impressively
at least until the final furlongs

Tiger Dancer "Roared" early on trying for a Repeat Win
But her Roar turned into a Mellow Purrr nearing the wire
Failed to repeat her victory - but still ran a very good race

And then there's the rest of The field

It was a tight battle to win "The Precious"
As Blunny and Ruffian hit the wire together

It took A Photo to show it was Blunny
By a Ruffian's "Cheetah Whisker" to steal it away

The biggest battle of all was for the Dog or Cat House
as Dusty and yours truly were almost in a dead heat

But loving the doghouse as much as I do
It Was just too hard to resist

The scotch and the Las Vegas dancers were my motivation
to stay where I was and deny Dusty The champagne and the Chippendale dancers!

It was not that easy to get the Key to the Dog House
because Cigarshop & Oaklawn Capper
fought me For it every step of the way

But in the end, my mellow nature and a lot of scotch
held any speed I could've had severely in check
So once again the key to the Dog House is mine

If I can't steal a Win
At least I can steal the Key to the Dog House
