His first workout was last July. I'm a proponent of not pushing young horses, but... yeesh.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Ziconic (Tapit x Zenyatta) may be making his career debut at Santa Anita Feb. 20.

Destin (Giant's Causeway x Dream of Summer), full brother to Airdrie stallion Creative Cause, just won the G3 Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay. Nice win, several lengths ahead of the fancied Tapit colt, Rafting.

I'm so happy; she came agonizingly close on one occasion as a 3 year old and she's a really nice mare...mariasmon wrote:And she got it today, winning the G2 Royal Delta.Starine wrote:Penwith (Bernardini x Composure) runs tomorrow at Gulfstream in the allowance feature. Satono Crown(JPN), 2012C. Marju(IRE) x Jioconda(IRE) by Rossini(USA), won impresssively in the G2 Kyoto Kinen 2200m turf at Kyoto on February 14th 2016.
The 4yo colt is a full brother to Lightening Pearl(IRE).
His performance today may tell us how good Duramente(JPN)(King Kamehameha x Admire Groove), who defeated him easily in the Satsuki Sho and the Japanese Derby last year, could be.

I heard he is slow but has the competitive spirit Cozmic One doesn't, so who knows, maybe a race will bring something else out of him.BlindLucky wrote:His first workout was last July. Making allowances for some differences in the track from day to day, Ziconic's workout tab at Santa Anita has been steady and average, not slow or fast but consistently in the middle. He was 23rd of 43 on the Feb. 13 at 4F. On Feb. 4, he was 6th of 12 at 6F. His 1:01.20 on Jan. 24th shows some promise. so it's hard to tell from the work tab if the trainer just works him slow.Flanders wrote:I heard he is slow but has the competitive spirit Cozmic One doesn't, so who knows, maybe a race will bring something else out of him.BlindLucky wrote:His first workout was last July. It might be time to admit that breeding her to Galileo has not been successful.Sparrow Castle wrote:Never So Few (IRE) finished 6th beaten by 7 lengths, on February 14, 2016, at GULFSTREAM PARK in Race 10.

I never understood why they insisted on breeding a dirt bred Belmont winner to a turf sire.......stubbornness because it's Galileo? Surely there are far better matches for Rags as sires.Izvestia wrote:It might be time to admit that breeding her to Galileo has not been successful.Sparrow Castle wrote:Never So Few (IRE) finished 6th beaten by 7 lengths, on February 14, 2016, at GULFSTREAM PARK in Race 10.

"...although with that you get Secretariat in the foal three times."
You say that as though it's a bad thing.

Her family had success with Sadler's Wells before, so why not try? Plus has produced top runners on turf and dirt. I would assume they wanted a Galileo filly which they never got.Slewfan2 wrote:I never understood why they insisted on breeding a dirt bred Belmont winner to a turf sire.......stubbornness because it's Galileo?
