I find this very amusing/charming.

She wants to be in someone's direct female line, obviously.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

barometric pressure drops can and do kick all mammals into delivering, sometime too early, according to an acquaintance who is a well respected neonatal intensive care physician.

I just have to keep reminding myself that for those we've lost so far in 2016, opening up this thread and seeing all the cute little ones and the hopes and dreams that comes with them almost makes up for those losses... Almost

It's cool that Atreides can sire red foals, since Dags can't. I'd have to look, but I don't believe Warrior's Reward or Violence have any red offspring either.

Are we sure it's not the heat lamp making that foal look like a fire-engine-red sorrel? :P

It's a good day to be a baby. Here is our first foal of the year. Catherine Z's Hope's filly by Girolamo. Congratulations to owner Darrin Paul.

That's a case of a seriously undercover red gene. The nearest chestnut on his dam's side of the pedigree (where it must have come from, since his dad doesn't have one) is four generations back.

Just before winter storm Jonas started blowing snow down on Kentucky, we welcomed our first foal of the year -- and what a foal he is! By Tale of the Cat, he is out of O Beautiful, who lives up to her name and has a pedigree to match. She is by top broodmare sire Unbridled's Song & out of G1 winner Key Phrase, thus making her a half sister to Yankee Gentleman (broodmare sire of American Pharoah). Key Phrase also is a half sister to the dam of champion Shared Belief. So, we are very excited about this colt--and the fact we share him with a new partner. O Beautiful and the foal were lucky to have a little time outside this morning before the snow began falling heavily, and both are doing very well,

Are my eyes old (they are) or does he have goggles...? Gonna grey out like mom?

Either way he's a cutie patootie.

With all the losses recently these photos are even more precious. Love 'em all. :)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
