Will get a better picture when the monsoon stops. Declaration of War/Closeout colt born this morning. All is well!
I think he said earlier she's going to Ghostzapper this year.

Yippee, I've been waiting for this little one. Hard to tell if she looks at all like her 2014 full brother, who has 3 white feet and a longer blaze more like mom's. We're going up to Pegasus a week from Saturday and hope to visit her 2013 filly by Bernardini, I'm The Reason, and the 2 year old.BlindLucky wrote:Blind Luck and her brand new Giant's Causeway filly born tonight

Seems like a bunch of fillies so far this year! Something to do with the weather?

I've heard that same stuff before, that it depends on weather or how you feed the mare, blah blah blah. Its all nonsense. As with all other mammals, the determination of the offspring's sex is the father. Whatever sperm fertilizes the egg first, a X(female) or a Y(male), is the only determining factor.bare it all wrote:Seems like a bunch of fillies so far this year! Something to do with the weather?

The Fugue has foaled a brown filly by Dubawi. She is very happy with her first foal.

Footage of Blind Luck's foal up and about. That's a nice looking baby.

Sparrow Castle, I'll be interested to hear what the Bernrdini looks like (this is the first one, right?) - I remember her as a youngster and she looked a bit unfortunate.

She is a nice looking foal. Looks a bit like her brother except for the blaze. And Blink Luck looks terrific.katmandu wrote:Footage of Blind Luck's foal up and about. That's a nice looking baby.

Yes, the Bernardini filly is Blind Luck's first foal. There's a video of her working at Pegasus in November. I'm The Reason had a series of workouts at Pegasus but no starts in 2015. Hopefully, I can give you an update after my visit.

<<< however, what has been found in humans is that a female fetus is likelier to survive stressful conditions (poor weather, poor nutrition, overall maternal stress metabolic or otherwise), while in dire cases of survival male fetuses (fetii?) are likelier to result in a miscarriage. So there is some truth to it, but it doesn't work at all in the way people think rather the oppositeFlanders wrote:I've heard that same stuff before, that it depends on weather or how you feed the mare, blah blah blah. Liz: Waiting for Will Take Charge's first reported foal to get an article. Big pretty filly out of Private Ensign. Might be the one of the most well-bred foals of the year! She has her daddy's blaze, and four stockings. Nice nice nice.

Y'know, there are three Private Ensigns listed on PedigreeQuery, all related to Personal Ensign. I didn't pay attention to birthdates and got awfully turned around. Anyhoo, what a cutie!Izvestia wrote:Here's the little munchkin. SOOOOO CUTE!!!Ketama wrote:Will Take Charge seems to stamp his foals. His first daughter o/o Private Ensign was born 3/1 at Siena Farm.

Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!
