The horses are loading nicely except for RUFFIAN
Who is being a very persnickety girl and refusing to enter her gate
She has finally been persuaded to go in and we are ready to run
AND AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY THEY GO
Like a firecracker on the Fourth of July ------
DUSTY has left the field wondering if there were
A malfunction with their gates?
And now PEEPTOAD Has fired a huge shot of her own
The two Fillys have separated themselves
from the rest of the field by at least 20 lengths
The rest of the runners are very tightly bunched
with nobody gaining any ground yet
BLUNNY...TIGER DANCER...STARK...REAL QUIET...CATALINA
Have begun to show some speed
It's another several lengths back to
CRIMINAL TYPE & OAKLAWN CAPPER...
And "running" in another time zone are John Henry and Ruffian
THEY'RE AT THE TOP OF THE STRETCH
The two Fillys are so far ahead now that it seems
like we are watching two different races
REAL QUIET suddenly hit his best stride and is moving up quickly
He is now running about 10 Lengths behind the leaders
Behind Real Quiet we see
Blunny...Tiger Dancer....Catalina ... Stark...Oaklawn Capper
And very far back are John Henry & Criminal Type
---- Then Ruffian just meandering along
moving more like the Cheshire Cat Than her Inner Cheetah
AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME
The race has been a battle from the gate between DUSTY and
PEEPTOAD With both Fillys showing Super Sonic Speed
REAL QUIET is still running strongly gaining ground with every stride
Its many lengths back to the rest of the field
There is no doubt that a Filly is going to win but which one will it be
THE WIRE LOOMS JUST AHEAD.....
And it's going to be a photo finish
After watching the replay the stewards have proclaimed
DUSTY the winner by a head over PEEPTOAD
REAL QUIET finishes a strong third
BLUNNY Holds on to steal The Precious
Defending champion Tiger Dancer is next by a nose Over Catalina
