I keep waiting to see a name for Vertigineux's 2013 Street Cry colt, who has been sitting unnamed at the top of my Virtual Stable. I don't see a death or export report for him. I wonder what's going on with him.

Wasn't there a discussion about that in an other thread at some point about how horrible it was? Some were saying maybe they were going for "California Chromette" but lacked space... but I just read it as "Comet" with an r and it sounds terribly dumb...

Really? I took it to indicate that this was a very good colt, so the farm gave him this most auspicious name in honor of Mr. Yoshida. Sort of like Frankel being named after the late Bobby Frankel, or Ballydoyle being given the name of Aiden O'Brien's stable.

According to the Jockey Club Registry, he was bred by Northern Farm. Looks like they were reserving the name for a special horse.

Like most of Sunday Silence sons, Heart's Cry is basically a turf sire.
And he hasn't sired any graded winner on dirt.
But it looks like his offspring can handle either surface.
He is actually sixth in 2015 Dirt Sire Ranking in Japan (JRA & NAR combined). -- please see below

As has already been discussed, Japanese Dirt, sandy & slow surface, is quite different from dirt surface in North America, anyway.
