I dislike them. Both horses are stunning but these don't look professional.mariasmon wrote:I find both shots awkward, really.

Could they be a little oversharpened? Particularly the Bated Breath shot.

I agree that Bated Breath's head looks huge for his body. Should have Photoshopped on a smaller head.
Animal Kingdom looks perfect...and sports a lovely, refined head.

On my screen I only see half the photo. The front half of the horse. Don't know why. Maybe it's something in my settings.mariasmon wrote:Huh?Ridan_Remembered wrote:Wish we had the full shot of Frankel, but just from that half of him

I oohed and aahed when I saw Frankel's pic earlier today, but Animal Kingdom puts him to shame, in my eyes. Just a gorgeous, gorgeous animal - he looks like one of those classic Thoroughbreds you see in old portraits. Maybe he'll put on some mass as he continues stud duty but wow. He definitely has the wow factor.

It's also wonderful that they are keeping Frankel in such fit shape. Does anyone know if they ride their stallions at that stud farm?
The Banstead Stud stallions are hand-walked 7 miles a day - two laps around the property.

I agree. Animal Kingdom is one gorgeous fellow. I'm pulling for him to have a really successful stud career.racehorsewriter wrote:I oohed and aahed when I saw Frankel's pic earlier today, but Animal Kingdom puts him to shame, in my eyes. On both my home and work PC, I can only see the front part of the horses in the photos as well. They're too large for the forum format for some of us. I even adjusted the zoom on my browser. Just made the whole thing smaller, didn't change how the photos are displayed.

That's too funny. How tall is this stallion that the photographer had to kneel or lie on the ground to shoot the pic?frankel13 wrote:World's shortest man takes Gattopardo conformation photo.

I think they made Animal Kingdom look rather over at the knee in that shot. Especially the right front looks like he's up on his toe. He's a beautiful horse, along with Frankel and Bated Breath but all three needed someone who could get them standing more square and not leaning or shifting weight one way, etc. I know it's not easy from experience, but these are high quality stallions, I'd work hard for that one special shot.

I think the photo is really pretty, just as a photo. But is it an ideal conformation shot? Not really.frankel13 wrote:World's shortest man takes Gattopardo conformation photo.

I think they may have been trying to use the sky as a background, he looks to be standing on high ground as it is.islandgirl45 wrote:That's too funny. Conventional wisdom dictates that the right front leg be visible in a conformation shot. Even when the handler manages to get it placed correctly, the horse's stance can still look awkward. When the leg is angled too far back, it can create the illusion of faults that don't exist. The conformation picture is only intended to be a basic guideline--not a definitive presentation of the horse in question (especially since it shows only one view of four.) Honestly, I don't think that anyone to whom a correct evaluation of a horse is important will spend much time studying conformation pictures. They'll just go see the horse in person.Acadiana wrote:I think they made Animal Kingdom look rather over at the knee in that shot. Especially the right front looks like he's up on his toe. Maybe outside the breeding season, but I believe not during the season. Man, I'd love that job: being paid to walk briskly 7 miles a day in such gorgeous surroundings, and leading Frankel as I go!

Until he snaps the lead and flips over backwards and kills himself. Could you imagine? I'll admire from afar! LolDella wrote:
