They move their mares around all the time. She could easily stay here. There's no particular reason for her Pharoah foal to be Irish-bred.carole wrote:Isn't she owned by Coolmore? I reckon they'll breed her to AP and then she'll come back to Europe.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Rags To Riches is returning to the States? Good...I hope she stays here.

https://www.thoroughbredracing.com/arti ... an-pharoahFinding the best possible mares for American Pharoah has proven to be relatively simple for Coolmore America. Slated for no more than an initial season of 150 bookings next year, the graceful colt has attracted more than 200 applications from highly interested breeders.

I was surprised to see the whole "150 bookings" thing. I wonder if Coolmore is choosing to do that, or if Zayat had any say when they sold the breeding rights, or if they are just saying that and will still have AP cover the 250ish Coolmore specialSparrow Castle wrote:This article could be posted in several places, but I thought I'd share it here. I was wondering if it was more of an insurance thing. I'd assume the insurance on American Pharoah is pretty darn strict.Northport wrote:I was surprised to see the whole "150 bookings" thing. My opinion is, you can't breed 250+ mares to a stallion at his price range. Its asking too much of the breeders who are willing to shell out $200,000. Commercial breeders need to make back much more than the $200,000 stud fee to break even. With less foals, its supply and demand. If his foals are athletic and look pretty, then everyone will want to buy one and it will drive up the price with less foals available.Northport wrote:I was surprised to see the whole "150 bookings" thing. G1 winning mare that was turned down by Dubawi They really must have had his book full far in advance. Nice to see she is remaining under the same ownership, though.uma_nosuke wrote:Star Of Seville--->Deep Impact

Just because she is a G1 winner doesn't mean she automatically fits with him, perhaps their conformations clash or he is just booked full or its that Dubawi has never sired a Stakes Winner from a Danehill mare(Duke of Marmalade is by Danehill). They have obviously figured out what type of mare he needs, because he sired like 12 G1SWs this year and has 99 SWs from 969 foals(10%).Starine wrote:I know, right? Considering he has probably been bred to many mares by Danehill and his sons, I can see why they may have turned her down because of her pedigree. There is nothing wrong with her pedigree, it just may not fit with him well.
