Old photo of Americain was much better, but still like him very much. He looks more like a stallion now. I am kinda intrigued by Snapy Halo- being a son of Southern Halo- wonder how he will do here. Just as an aside- in watching Grand Reward's progeny in Argentina, when crossed with Southern Halo mares- does very well, has several graded stakes winners with that particular cross.

The angle seems kinda funky.Lakeway wrote:So, is it just me, or is the one of Point Given better than his original, which I never thought did him justice?

I don't think it's possible to make Americain look bad, but I do find it interesting that the photographer changed the angle on his portrait, shooting from a much higher angle than on the other shots from that group.
I would guess that the portraits of Raison d'Etat and the others are taken from a lower angle, to make their legs look longer and the horse more imposing. With Americain, the aim may have been to make his very long legs look a little less so, and to ameliorate the fact that he is one really big horse.

Point Given is nice-looking with correct legs, only I wish they'd get a little weight off him. I don't like that's he's getting a pot belly.Lakeway wrote:So, is it just me, or is the one of Point Given better than his original, which I never thought did him justice?
Thinking of PG and looking at his pedigree reminds me that we don't see Alydar much anymore in top pedigrees. He was once the hottest sire in the business, and it still breaks my heart to recall what happened to him. The hard side of this business is not for a softy like me, that's for sure.

Wish we had the full shot of Frankel, but just from that half of him, if folks want to know what a correct Thoroughbred looks like, look no further. It's also wonderful that they are keeping Frankel in such fit shape. Does anyone know if they ride their stallions at that stud farm?

they don't get ridden, but aside from turnout they also get handwalked 7 miles each day.Ridan_Remembered wrote:Wish we had the full shot of Frankel, but just from that half of him, if folks want to know what a correct Thoroughbred looks like, look no further. Bated Breath's head looks like it was photoshopped in from a larger photo.
