Wooowza. He's a looker.
His hind pasterns (and sort of his fetlocks) look a little frightening, though. Maybe it's just how he is standing?

Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

That left front does look odd, as though his hoof is trimmed too long in the heel, plus it almost looks like there is a band of something wrapped around the top of his hoof that sort of sticks out above his heel.
I don't think it helps that he appears to be standing in sand, with each foot possibly sinking in to different depths.
But the rest of him? HubbaHubba.

He looks so thick in the neck already.
I love his pedigree. He wasn't blessed with brilliant speed and he doesn't have the most impressive race record, but he has got some serious stamina breeding. I actually like him at that price too. For once. I hope he does well.

For being a plain bay, he is not plain at all, very handsome and well put together! And a great price too!

And Silent Name looks like a diplodocus.

Not sure I wanna call Curlin a tank, but he isn't very refined looking. He may be build nice enough and looks pretty imposing but he wouldn't win many beauty contests.
California Chrome doesn't look like a horse in training, but I imagine this was taken over his break when he got a little chunky. He is a nice looking horse, doesn't look nearly as long as he does in his racing pictures.
Commissioner really reminds me of AP Indy with his face.

Chrome looks a lot nicer than I anticipated! Not that I thought he was going to look bad, I'm just pleasantly surprised. Pasterns seem just a smidge longer than I'd strictly prefer, but he has nice angles all over.
Curlin IS just about at tank status. My first impression of the photo was "what a slab of a horse." His top half seems very powerful and effective, though I agree that he's not especially refined/traditionally "pretty." I read in another thread the rumor is his legs are less than perfect. They almost seem stubby on him in this photo, paha.
He's always had that huge noggin. It's not ugly, but just....big.
But golly, do I love that horse. Seeing his new shot made my day!
