Uma-furusato.com, a Japanese official source for the breeding, reported today (on Oct 13th) that Empire Maker(USA) had moved to the quarantine facility within the yard of JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in the afternoon of Oct 12rh.
If everything goes well, Empire Maker(USA) will be transported to the Narita International Airport in the evening of Oct 21st following the export quarantine procedure before leaving Japan on Oct 22nd.
Empire Maker entered stud to Juddmonte Farm in the US in 2004 and moved to JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in 2011.
He already sired a lot of G1 winners prior to his introduction to Japanese stud. Furthermore, he proved to be a successful sire after his introduction to JBBA and became the American champion sire in 2012.
And, as his gransdson American Pharoah became the 12th Triple Crown winner in the US -- first time since Affirmed in 1978 in 37 years -- there have been a lot of calls from the US industry.
Empire Maker covered a total of 860 mares during his 5 years stay in Japan, topped by 236 mares in 2012.
Shingo Nakanishi, the stud manager at JBBA, commented; 'Empire Maker left 600+ babies in Japan. We pray that some of his baibies will win big races in Japan''.

Does anyone know what EM's attitude is like? He seems like a pretty chill dude, but I have no idea if that's just photos. With the way AP and, I've heard, POTN are with people, I'm just curious if it runs in the family.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

We had an Empire Maker in the barn, my absolute favorite guy. He liked to lick you, and would probably have learned to shake hands/hooves if it meant he'd get more mints.Insane Crazy wrote:Does anyone know what EM's attitude is like? He has a big noggin like his daddy, too--an almost Roman nose.

Interesting, as Empire Maker loves to have his tongue pulled. He will stick it through the bars in his stall, if necessary.BlindLucky wrote:We had an Empire Maker in the barn, my absolute favorite guy. Horses being hams is one of my one true weaknesses. Big ol' noggins are as well. Sigh. Can I take this guy home?BlindLucky wrote:We had an Empire Maker in the barn, my absolute favorite guy. Thanks all for confirming/backing up what seemed like a "good guy stallion" sense from him. I was not a big fan of him when racing, because I was twelve and in love with Funny Cide, but he has certainly grown on me over the years!

I remember when Unbridled died how highly he was spoken of by Claiborne. That he had a special ability to make connections with people. He also liked his tongue pulled.Izvestia wrote:Unbridled was supposed to be a kind horse as well.
Toussaud was apparently quite a tough mare to deal with, if I recall correctly.
I've never seen any mention of Empire Maker being bad ass. I think he's a nice boy.

I think I read that while in training, Empire Maker was a hot blooded/anxious sort, but definitely not mean. He definitely got that from Toussaud.

Reminds me of Vindy. Loved his tongue pulled. He was so silly. I miss him so...Flanders wrote:I remember when Unbridled died how highly he was spoken of by Claiborne.
