Americain and Aikenite are back and Eye of the Leopard moves from Canada. They also brought Grey Swallow over from Europe. Champion 2yo in Ireland in 2003, the son of Daylami - Style of Life, by The Minstrel, won the Irish Derby(G1) and Tattersalls Gold Cup(G1). His first crop was born in 2009 and he has a G1Spw in South Africa and a Spw in Australia. From 146 foals of racing age, 49 starters, 26 winners, 0 Stakes winners. Earnings of $1,023,854 AEI: 0.65 Seems a strange addition to Kentucky at $7,500.

I have come to the conclusion that most of Calumet's stallion roster choices have less to do with any sort of commercial viability than what a very wealthy and slightly eccentric racing fan thinks is good for the breed. But, hey, if they're making it work, that's cool.Flanders wrote:Calumet's stallions

That's amazing.Natalma wrote:TDN has it on their FB page that Empire Maker will stand for $100k.
Good for Empire Maker!!
He finally went back to the right place.
He stood for JPY 3,500,000. (about US$ 29K) for 2015 season in Japan.
And if he stayed in Japan, his fee could have been lowered for 2016.
I firmly believe that that was a great trade which created a win-win situation for both the buyer and the seller!!
Kudos to both the buyer and the seller!!
No one was unhappy about the deal, this time!

Well, if my plan of hitting the lottery shortly goes through, then yesAdmin wrote:Planning on sending a mare to him?Acadiana wrote:I heard earlier in the week they had planned to announce Pharoah's fee today. Anyone know if that's still the plan? I sure hope so!
If nothing else, at least my mares can get me a look at him when we go down to look at some stallions for them. Munnings, FuPeg, and (I would hope) Competitive Edge would be in our price range . . .

My heart flutters every time I see "Australia (Galileo - Ouija Board)"
Genuinely curious about Galileo's...or if it is a case by case basis per mare?

Zoffany from $12,500 euro last year (if I recall correctly) to $45000....wow.BlindLucky wrote:Coolmore Ireland (no Dylan Thomas or Thewayyouare? where'd they go?):
Glen Eagles at $60,000 euro......when you can have Australia at $50,000 euro?
Mastercraftsman at 35k Euro is still a bargain. I like Starspangledbanner at 15k Euro as well.

Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Gleneagles' fee is higher than Australia!? Does he really have a more impressive record than Australia?
It can't be pedigree...same sire and, if I had to pick between the dams, how could you not give the nod to the great Ouija Board?

Well Ouija Board is by Cape Cross, sire of the soon to be European Horse of the Year Golden Horn and Sea The Stars who is already making a mark at stud.Twingo wrote:BaroqueAgain1
1) better pedigree (Giant's Causeway > Ouija Board)
2) Gr1 at 2
3) and he is a miler (which is rare)
Also, Derby winner vs. Guineas winner is actually a very interesting angle. I suppose a Derby winner should be more impressive but perhaps a Guineas winner may be more desirable to breeders for some reason?
Oh that reminds me, Australia was 3rd in his Guineas attempt coming awfully close to winning when facing arguably much tougher opposition than Gleneagles did so there might have been some miling ability in him.

Kitten's Joy stays at $100,000...sort of reasonable compared to some of the fees that have been announced.

Not sure about Thewayyouare, but Dylan Thomas has been standing as part of their National Hunt Division for a year or so.BlindLucky wrote:Coolmore Ireland (no Dylan Thomas or Thewayyouare? where'd they go?):
Re. Calumet fees: am I the only one who thinks that Calumet management has some weird ego issues that refuses to let them stand anything for less than $7,500?

I like Gaineway's line-up. Even if you look beyond the fabulous Tapit, they have a nice mix of classic American lines, plus a couple of stallions with proven international influence.
Karakontie is by the Storm Cat stallion Bernstein, out of a Sunday Silence mare whose granddam was the great Miesque. Hat Trick is actually BY Sunday Silence.
