If you take away Golden Horn, his results for this year really aren't that great. He sired one Group 2 winner, three Group 3 winners, and seven listed stakes winners. Golden Horn's probably the only reason his fee didn't go down. Plus Cape Cross will be 22 next year.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Cape Cross €20,000 (€20,000)
I'm a little surprised that his fee didn't go up after the year that Golden Horn had. He's a pretty good deal at that price.

Query for those who do this sort of thing -- if you had a mare to suit either, at the same price, would you go to EM or Curlin?hadrianmarcus wrote:DRFBreeding is tweeting that Empire Maker will stand for $100,000.
(EM seems vaguely like a steal at that price to me considering POTN's and Pharoah's potential fees, but I haven't followed his performance in Japan much)
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!

true Ghostzapper stood first season for 200k, AP for 225k wouldn't be a big surprise, seems justified being a grand slam champion and every other stallion 100k and up .....mariasmon wrote:Ghostzapper was $200k when he first retired, I believe.TapitsGal wrote:If the rumor proves true hed be up there with Tapit. Also saw it quoted by DRF in a tweet. If it's confirmed... why would anyone pay $125k for PoTN? I "get" the idea of breeding to first year Pharoah from a commercial "breed the mare and sell her i/f or sell the weanling"... but granddaddy is the overwhelmingly proven commodity here.Natalma wrote:TDN has it on their FB page that Empire Maker will stand for $100k. I apologize, I missed your earlier post. But at least it seems to be an official announcement. I think they purposefully priced him below PoTN and what AP will surely be. And yes, at this point i would rather go to EM . I think most breeders have also figured out what kind of mare suits EM best.bare it all wrote:Also saw it quoted by DRF in a tweet. Agreed. Kind of funny to look at POTN's fee now Then again....at the current sale he's getting good Keeneland results on his weanlings. Gotta wonder how much of that is the last few months Pharoah factor and how long before that wears off....
