Older mares sell cheaper usually. The young girls are shiny and new!

Also less breeding seasons left on older mares, means less time to recoup your investment, so it makes sense.

Nice to see Spring in the Air get a good price. She is a gorgeous girl and had a lot of heart on the track.
Shook Up was very pretty too. A disappointment that that injury has ended her career.

Too many breeders paying too much for mares and too much for stud fees, then trying to recoup costs by selling one of 100 yearlings by Stallion X to a shrinking pool of potential owners who haven't yet realized not only that buying seven-figure yearlings is not only NOT a sure way to buy a seven-figure earner, its a sure way to. . .lose seven figures. . . the economics of breeding make no sense as currently structured.
