Even though he got bumped up from last year, I have a feeling that $15,000 for Girolamo may turn out to be a bargain.

Darley's stud fees are realistic, unlike a certain other major stud farm (cough*winstar*cough)

I mean, considering that in the BC Juvenile Fillies the top two runners are his daughter and granddaughter, I'm surprised they didn't even wait until after the BC for an additional bump as a sire and broodmare sire.

Considering what Pioneerof the Nile was standing for this season, and now next year... yes, it is practically a bargain.

Elusive Quality should stand around 20-25 K

He is very poor in the last 2-3 yars, but Darley still selling him on Smarty Jones', Quality Road's record.

Bad results on the track, bad results in the sales. His offsprings only in book 2.3.4...

covered only 66 mares at $40,000 in 2015. How many mares he will get in the next year for the same price? So many young exciting stallions between 15-25K.

strange decision by Darley

Simple, 66 x 40 000$ = 2.64 million$
Even if they brought his price down to the same range as the many young exciting stallions between 15 and 25k, he may simply get more competition in the same range, less mares. At 20k, he would need to cover 132 mares to equal his 2.64 million$ earnings from 2015.

Now, if you add to the fact that he's not been doing well in sales or on the track, doubling the number of mares covered would only risk making his numbers look even more abysmal. He doesn't need more mares, he needs better suited/fitting mares if you want to have him do well - but who is gonna risk their good mares on him? I'm sure if someone has a mare that would be an exceptional match they could negotiate with Darley anyhow. But until that individual comes along, I would think Darley is simply cutting their losses and looking after their bottom line by trying to break his fall as much as possible. They aren't gonna be taking huge risks imo. It's not like their roster is dependent on his success.

He's also going on 23, so they probably aren't too worried if his book stays in the double digits

I think Street Boss at $12,500 is quite a deal. I doubt he will light up the sales, but I think he is going to be a useful sire type of sprinters/milers for dirt and grass. I love his pedigree (Street Cry out of an Ogygian mare) and how well he can outcross to almost all the top American pedigrees.

from 66 mares, 20 are probably from Darley and Shadwell.

I don't think he can get 60 mares for that price next year.

Imagining has a pedigree that screams Maryland sire. :-)
I think he will be a very good sire just like Not For Love. Has that same female family - it's perfect.

And now the wait begins for the fee announcement of American Pharoah. I think once that's released, Empire Maker's fee will be released too.

Depending on how Gainesway prices him, EM may be the bargain of the three. POTN's fee is outrageous, given that AP is a freak and his 2nd best performer on the year is a Gr 2 winner in INDIA. 3rd best runner won a stakes race in Indiana.....Talk about milking that one....

I wonder how high they'll go? $150,000? $125,000 was too much...

Sire 1, Broodmare sire 2, I wonder if they will bump his fee up or keep it at 150k.
