Has he been sold, or is this a loan for a season or two?

I have been really surprised some Kentucky farm has not scooped up Empire Way! Empire Maker seems as if he may be a sire of sires and with the female family behind him, one would think he would just be a dynamite stallion prospect! So much of breeding is whether the stallion's sire can produce good sires and whether the dam is strong enough to support the family. He wasn't the best race horse, but not all top sires were tremendous runners. But that pedigree suggests a lot of promise to me. I guess they are waiting to see how the California runners do?

Probably lower than they were offered before. It's been a couple years and he's only getting older. Glad they got him though. We needed another stallion on the upper end of the ranks.Somnambulist wrote:I wonder what the price on that deal was.

They don't card 14f MSWs and if it's an offspring of Zenyatta, it's going to be running in a lot of maiden races. Well, no. Shirreffs would never allow that to happen.Life At Zen wrote:2017 foal-

I'm sure it was less. Add in that he wasn't producing so far what they'd hoped for...
But then again...isn't that one of the reasons he left KY in the 1st place? He was given tremendous opportunity.....and what did he really produce...until after he was sold? He did well, but he was no Tapit, who certainly started with much inferior mares.

I doubt he stands for a dime less than $100k.
