Wow!
I do think that that's wonderful news for the racing and the breeding. :D

Majestic Warrior is apparently swapping places with him. He's moving to East Stud.

Pardon my ignorance but how does this potentially influence AP's fee/book.

Good question.
Has there been a building interest in Empire Maker all along, or did having a Triple Crown-winning grandson make the difference?
Will breeders want to go to the horse who is two generations removed from AP, just because EM's son now has a TC winner?
Or is it because all the Japanese mares who nicked well with EM have been bred to him already and the Japanese breeders need new blood?

I'm stunned. Happy too. I didn't think it was possible, that Japan wasn't letting go of him.

As for why, I and I feel sure some others see him as the King, and POTN simply a prince. The looks of the Bodemeisters also helps the stature of "the King." I'd be far more interested in breeding to EM than POTN or AP.

If Majestic Warrior is indeed swapping places with him, I'm curious of this is just a one year lease/swap deal with Coolmore...?
Would make more sense than them actually parting with him. If so, would have to open up some interesting future lease/swaps for the future between Coolmore and Japanese farms. Who is the last stallion they sent over for a season or two? I know they've done it with several.

Not sure this is a literal swap, as in Empire Maker is headed to Ashford--I think it was more like a swap as in "one is headed to Japan while the other is returning". Majestic Warrior is headed to East Stud, who bought Dunkirk. Empire Maker did not stand there, so they'd have no say in him coming to the US.

Yeah, I only meant it loosely, in terms of swapping countries. I don't think Coolmore was involved with this Empire Maker thing, nor will Majestic be at the same farm in Japan where EM has been standing.

This is going to be a fun game of guess the 2016 stud fees for EM, POTN and AP. And who sets/announces the fees first?
Bodemeister at $30,000, given what he's produced in general from a looks perspective is looking pretty attractive, imo. Don't know if they can run yet, but he wasn't anywhere near over rated as a new stallion.

POTN is my guess.

You gonna try to breed to EM?

Discussions have commenced. Pretty futile without knowing the fee, though.

I can donate 1% towards your cause if you get me into the winner's circle when it gets successful.

I'd take her up on that. It may be $1,000 or so easy cash. ;-)
