What a family legacy! She lived to a very good age and sure will have a long LONG lasting legacy through her progeny!Northport wrote:World class broodmare, Daltawa, has died at the age of 26
She was the dam of 7 time G1 winner Daylami as well as 4 time G1 and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Dalakhani. Daltawa was also the 2nd dam of duel G1 and Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dolniya and the 3rd dam of G1 winner Dalkala.

Her Frankel filly is being sold at the Tattersalls this Fall right? And she visited Dubawi this year? Wonder what the story behind the tape on her halter is. One of my favourite ladies, in fact it would've been my username...tachyon wrote:Danedream(GER)

Both Treve and Danedream are great!!
I'm all for Treve's third Arc.
But Danedream's unprecedented achievements that included her King George win were much more international.
And she was just unlucky in the Japan Cup in my opinion.

Wasn't it Danedream who was prevented from running in a second Arc due to a quarantine that was imposed on German tracks/stables because of an incident of a contagious disease? IIRC, she was stuck at home for months.

She didn't race again after that quarantine was imposed because horses weren't allowed to leave the track for 3 months.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Wasn't it Danedream who was prevented from running in a second Arc due to a quarantine that was imposed on German tracks/stables because of an incident of a contagious disease? Agreed! And her record breaking Arc was a thing of beauty. I find her vastly underrated.tachyon wrote:

From the DRF:
http://www.drf.com/news/premium/rachel- ... reer-debutRachel Alexandra has had only two foals. Her first, Jess’s Dream, is by Curlin and is in training at Saratoga but it’s unclear when he will make it to the races. Rachel Alexandra had complications after foaling Rachel’s Valentina in 2013. She has not been bred since.
Banke sounded as if it was unlikely that Rachel Alexandra would be bred again.
“I think I’d have a heart attack somewhere in the process,” Banke said. “Never say never. The vets say it would be okay but I don’t know. I’m not sure I can take it. But she’s happy and we’re happy to have her happy.”

I don't know if any other people here are friends with Jeanne Mirabito (she runs Our Mims Retirement Haven and is one amazing--and funny--woman), but she and her granddaughter went to Summer Wind and visited with Littleprincessemma and Irish Pharaoh. The rumors of her sweet nature are totally legit

-- from Tosho Bokujo's homepage (Sep 5)
On hearing Tosho Bokujo's complete dispersal, jockey Kenichi Ikezoe has visited the farm to see Sweep Tosho (champion mare) and her 2015 Orfevre colt today.
Sweep Tosho(JPN), 2001M. End Sweep(USA) x Tabatha Tosho(JPN) by Dancing Brave(USA), was one of the most beloved racemares in recent years.
Kenichi Ikezoe was the regular rider of both Sweep Tosho and Orfevre.
Tosho Bokujo have said that they already found new owners for all of their foals and some of their broodmares.
The remaining mares will be offered at the Broodmare Sale on Oct 15th and yearlings will be at Autumn Sale.

Thanks for the update on those horses, Tachyon.
Sweep Tosho's colt sure got his sire's big ol' head, didn't he?
