Zardana's 3-yr-old little boy Smart Transition, by the late Lanes End Farm stallion Smart Strike, just crushed in the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga. Zardana, sometimes referred to as the Rachel slayer, was a G2 stakes winner and a multiple ungraded stakes winner.

I watched that race, and Smart Transition just blew by the more-fancied Stanford in the stretch. Looks like John Shirreffs (who has been having a pretty nice Saratoga meet) has a potential G1 colt in his stable.

Most Inspiring, by Gio Ponti won the 5th race at Woodbine today July 31st. Her first time out she clocked a 1:10.36 for Six furlongs, wining the MSW in 3 and 1/4 lengths. She is from Gio Ponti's first crop (if I'm not mistaken?), and is his first winner.

I loved Zardana when she was running, so I'm thrilled to see that her boy looks to have a bright future ahead. Very excited to see how he comes back.krmemories wrote:Zardana's 3-yr-old little boy Smart Transition, by the late Lanes End Farm stallion Smart Strike, just crushed in the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga. Pin Up (3-yr-old chestnut filly Tapit x Cara Rafaela) just finished second today in R2 MSW turf at Monmouth Park. She is a 3/4 sister to 2006 Preakness winner Bernardini.
I always find it interesting when a horse with 2 grey parents turns out to be chestnut, bay, or brown.

Paulick tweeted that the winner of the Matchmaker would win a booking to Paynter, Fed Biz or Take Charge Indy.
Any of those stallions sound pretty good to me.
From the Bloodhorse article:
Along with the $150,000 purse, the race awards top finishers with $50,000 worth of stallion seasons to WinStar stallions Paynter, Fed Biz, and Take Charge Indy.
