IMHO Cape Blanco is a steal...and it's crazy that Uncle Mo is $12,000 more.

I think the comment is about Uncle Mo's fee being $12,000 more than Cape Blanco. And I agree, (imo) there's no reason why Uncle Mo should be priced so much higher than more accomplished horses like Cape Blanco, Stay Thirsty, or Lookin' at Lucky. But hey, if his foals look the part and breeders are payin, why not, right?

Ah ok, makes sense. Mo is higher than Cape Blanco simply because he's a dirt horse. Thirsty was a better distance horse but at a mile or 1 1/16 Mo was heads above him. Lucky... Hard to say. I didn't follow him much during his career but most studs have reduced fees in their 3rd to 4th year at stud, no? And then either raise again due to their first crop success or remain the same/drop. Lucky's first foals are two year olds now?

I think Lucky's first foals will be racing in 2014. I think. And I definitely see your reasoning for Mo being more than Blanco & Thirsty (the dirt aspect and the fact that Mo was a monster at a mile-ish), but both Blanco & Thirsty were tough enough to race at 4, they both liked more classic distances (which we need more of here), and Blanco is one of (if not the only?) sons of Galileo at stud here. Having not seen what his or any of their foals look like, I'm just surprised that Mo is that MUCH more than these guys. No knocks on Mo or any of them intended. :)

I think there's a lot of good buzz around the Mo foals. How much of that has been directly generated by Coolmore is hard to say.

Dansili started from only £8.000 in 2001.
Oasis Dream started from £25,000 in 2004.

It looks like these two always beat the expectations. 8-)
I love them!

I'm trying to find some Stay Thirsty babies. I've always had a soft spot for ST because I felt like he was the red-headed step child to Repole. This horse did more for him than Uncle Mo and he always took the back seat to Mo. IMO
