You can trace that gene back to Lucky Two Bits (buckskin), but there's no sign of anything earlier... hmmm

There's not even really any physical evidence that Lucky Two Bits was a buckskin (at least, I've never seen a photo of her) as she was registered a bay. It just is the most sensible possibility. There are a couple theories behind cream dilutes, the most prevalent being that:

(a) the gene existed in the breed since way back when but was eventually "hidden" among obscure horses who were registered as chestnuts, bays, and browns when they actually were ambiguous palominos, buckskins, and smokey brown/blacks.
(b) somewhere much more recently but before DNA testing, there was a non-thoroughbred breeding. Just as a example, it's possible that Lucky Two Bits was somehow sired by a cream dilute quarter horse, but the owner either wasn't aware (e.g., a stallion jumped the fence) or pretended he didn't know otherwise and just scribbled down a TB stud to get the JC registration. Or this could have happened to her sire/dam, grandsire/granddam, etc.

Both are possible but since there's little way to prove it either way, we just accept that Milkie and Glitter Please are enigmas who have contributed a splash of color to the breed. :D

Sorry for the history lesson if you already knew it -- I love cream dilutes and find the whole thing quite interesting. Some cool photo and information here: http://www.whitehorseproductions.com/cr ... ontbs.html
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Beautiful Devil, a 3yo white granddaughter of Patchen Beauty, won R4 at Belterra today. I can't find a photo of her, though.

It was seriously ugly. Shockingly, the one who broke down was vanned off and the two who fell over her walked off on their own.

Thrilledtothemax, easy winner of the 1st at Marquis Downs last evening, was not so thrilled about the saddling paddock.

I have the vague memory someone reported here that Turf Club had a white filly by Old Fashioned, back when she was a foal, but these are the first pictures I've seen of her.

She's one of the nicest looking white TBs I've seen, I think. It'd be nice if she could run a bit.
