I feel like if you aren't with Shadai, the odds of your stallion getting good numbers outside of his first 2-3 years in Japan are pretty slim (unless of course he proves to be an excellent sire - but that doesn't seem to happen much out of Shadai - besides Stay Gold)

No kidding. So why not ship some of those poor lonely hearts over here to get some bigger books of mares? If you are about making your stallion and he isn't getting any ladies giving him the opportunity someplace else makes sense. I am sure some of these would be very well received here in the States or Europe.

Japanese breeders don't seem like they are quite as willing to part with their bloodstock (even if only for a season or two) as American and European outfits. I can't really blame them since they have some of the nicest rosters and broodmare bands around, but I am surprised that farms that are rivalling Shadai don't even send some of their stallions to Australia for the SH season.

Yes, that is very true. Seems a bit greedy to me. If you have a stallion servicing just a few mares, he is hardly earning his keep. I suppose it's their money. Easy come, easy go.

Deep Impact has been establishing himself as a sire possibly comparable to his own sire, Sunday Silence.
In 2014 he attained the triple crown for sires in the JRA, that is, the leading sire, leading 2yo sire, and leading jump sire, which is a feat just once achieved by Sunday Silence in 2003. Also he is catching up to the great sire in the # of wins in the JRA graded stakes (see below). Furthermore, he actually surpassed his own sire in the best seasonal # of G1 wins in the JRA: 11 G1 wins (flat&jump).

Basic information on both stallions is found at:
I'll Have Another: http://www.jbis.jp/horse/0001163245/sire/generation/
Battle Plan: http://www.jbis.jp/horse/0001111834/sire/generation/
IHA covered 152(in 2013)-123(2014)-127(2015) mares.

Battle Plan's stallion parade at Arrow Stud in 2015:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDca8HRcAcs
Battle Plan has 41 offspring (2yos-14; 3yos-27) entered in 188 JRA races as of 30th Oct 2015 (races managed by the NAR are not included here). Of the 188 starts, 63 are on turf while 125 on sand (or, dirt). The result is:
1st (13; 6.9%) - 2nd (12) - 3rd (15) - 4th (12) - 5th (7)
On of his best sons is 3yo Meiner Chevalier out of a Special Week (Sunday Silence) mare. He is a turf runner, and was 2nd in Sapporo 2yo Stakes (G3, 1800m) last year, and was 3rd in Principal Stakes (Listed, 2000m) at Tokyo this May.
Jolly Up, 2yo f, out of an Afleet mare, and Hideno Imperial, 3yo c, out of a Hennessy mare, are other top earners on dirt. Sadly, his mares all came from non-Shdai farms, and so their qualities are generally not high; also just 4 mares are of Sunday Silence linage, or sired by SS stallions, which is regrettable in view of good performances by Meiner Chevalier on turf.

Thank you! IHA is a very nicely put together animal. Nice to see he seems to be getting a lot of interest.
