Hope's Love, the full sister to California Chrome, just finished 2nd in a MSW at Golden Gate. It was a very good effort, since she was stuck in traffic for much of the race. When space opened along the rail, she was a little hesitant at first (not surprising for a 2yo's first race), but then she kicked into gear. Closed to finish a neck behind the loose-on-the-lead winner.
I think 'Chrome's little sis may be one to watch.

Pipers Journey just won her 2nd start. Last out she was dominating in her MSW. Very nice filly, half sister to 2006 Plate Trial winner, Pipers Thunder, and stakes placed Pipers Future.
What a loss Niigon was in Ontario.
And Checkered Past just beat Unspurned in the Trillium Stakes at Woodbine. She is out of Catch the Flag, who is a daughter of champion Catch the Ring.

I think she ran a hell of a race, such a nice first outing. She looked very impressive.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Hope's Love, the full sister to California Chrome, just finished 2nd in a MSW at Golden Gate. Didn't realize this one was an MTO- so did not go. Interesting to note, in looking over the works, one was a gate work-(on 5/30)serenassong wrote:Divine Energy

Both races are MSW, both horses are 3. Strike a Balance has been gelded.

Harpoon (Tapit x Christmas Star), a half-brother to Cuvee and Will He Shine, won a $16k claimer today and was claimed from Pletcher/Repole. I guess that $500k purchase price didn't pan out

Hmm- he was second, by a nose to Vinceremos in the Tampa Bay Derby- then just kinda falters from there. Now with Bruce Brown.BlindLucky wrote:Harpoon (Tapit x Christmas Star), a half-brother to Cuvee and Will He Shine, won a $16k claimer today and was claimed from Pletcher/Repole. Third...race won impressively by the Pletcher (natch) filly, Positively Royal
I hated seeing Jose Ortiz whipping Hyper Nation as much as he did...she's a baby, and a filly to boot. IMHO, the last thing you want to do is make her first race an unpleasant, even painful, experience.
