2024 starts off with the retirement of a human not a horse. Michael Blowen is stepping down as president of old friends effective Feb 1st. Former Kentucky horse park president John Nicholson will take over. Michael will still occasionally give tours and greet visitors but will no longer be running the farm on a day to day basis

Prank (Into Mischief), a half-sister to Mo Donegal, is being offered as a broodmare prospect only at KEEJAN. she was sidelined just a few weeks after her sole start at 2yo and had 4 works this year (2 in March and 2 in September). not sure if there are any official statements out there but she's obviously never racing again.

2 starts, separated by 14 months, but sure he deserves a chance at stud to spread fragile genes. fun.

Honestly with how many studs are going to stud something should be put in place. Which with the major farms it'll never pass because they'll throw a snit like they did over the cap. But something like a stud needs x amount of starts to stand or something. But again the big farms would throw a fit so something that might help the breed won't pass

Such a big fan of this gal. She was an absolutely terrific racehorse, never worse than 3rd, showed up every time. An interesting match with Not This Time.
Happy retirement Olive!

I imagine she came out of the Jebel Hatta with some issue. The stewards report said they required her be checked by a vet immediately because she stopped and was eased, but nothing was found. It may have just been a quick lameness check and when they had imaging done there was something going on.

Considering how well her dam has done with him, I'd be surprised if she went to anybody except Dubawi. He's no spring chicken anymore.
