I don’t know to confirm it but I’m 99% sure that Breaking Storm just suffered a cardiac episode on Race#5 at Caymanas Park. He went very uncoordinated and then fell to the ground. Very sad, I actually said to a family member that he looked very subdued in the paddock pre-race, he was shuffling around in walk, not striding out.

That was the incident that made Parx delay racing for almost 30 minutes, and iirc, they had to move the gate to get the horse out. Poor filly.

Platinum Invador (Redwood) suffered a compound fracture to his RF cannon bone during the QEII Cup and had to be euthanized. unfortunately never looked survivable from the replay.
Sad end for Rufus - but Platinum Invador earned the plaudits of punters everywhere

Popular $4.7 Million Earner Perfect Drift Dies at 25

"He deserved the dignity of leaving us while still having that glint in his eye." Before Perfect Drift was euthanized, "I walked him out the west end of the barn and onto the east turn of the half-mile oval where he learned how to first change leads,” Reed added. “Told him it was OK to prick his ears now. It's the last sixteenth, you're well in front, and in hand."

From the HRI list this week;
Archies Charm (GB) - Fell, injured? at Leopardstown, 12/29
Champagnesocialist (IRE) - Fell, injured? at Limerick, 12/28
Clifton Warrior (GB) - Fell, injured? at Limerick, 12/28
Elsie Kells (IRE) - Cause unknown, unraced 5 year old mare
En Beton (FR) - Cause unknown, last raced 12/27 at Leopardstown, pulled up but no statement saying he was injured.
Kinbara (IRE) - Fell at Thurles (injured?) 12/17
Light Parade (IRE) - Fell, injured? at Limerick, 12/28
Shoot Champagne (IRE) - Slipped, fell, injured at Down Royal, 12/26
Very sad to see three horses lost at Limerick on the same day Just for clarification in case people are not aware, the HRI publishes a weekly list of Irish racehorses who have died in racing (under rules or point to point), training, retirement whether it was a racing injury or colic etc, as the horse’s passport must be returned to them when the horse is deceased. However they do not provide a cause of death, so it’s a case of looking back through racing results etc. The only one this week with actually confirmation on the results was Shoot Champagne.

1/2 - Bound to Bet - Musculoskeletal (pending) at Los Alamitos (CHRB has it as a racing fatality but there was no racing that day, so I’m assuming it’s and error and they meant training!)
1/2 - Hop On and Ride - Musculoskeletal (pending) at Los Alamitos (CHRB has it as a racing fatality but there was no racing that day, so I’m assuming it’s and error and they meant training!)
1/2 - Strat Mo Matic - horse broke down at the 1/2 pole, while galloping on Belmont TT. Ambulanced back to barn#62. Radiographed & Euthanized due to injuries.

@DRFHersh Confirmed tragic news circulating that Two Emmys was euthanized this morning after breaking his leg during a workout. Per trainer H Robertson the fracture occurred the knee, very unusual, & likely happened after another horse "bounced him off the fence" in upper stretch.

UPDATE; @DRFHersh Have confirmation that a horse near the starting gate, placed at the head of the homestretch in the morning, ran into Two Emmys as TE was working. This is where the initial injury took place - wasn't a standard breakdown.

Where's Chris, Constitutionlawyer die after Belmont training accident
https://www.drf.com/news/wheres-chris-c ... g-accident
Where’s Chris, winner of the Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct last November, and Constitutionlawyer, most recently sixth in the Queens County on Dec. 31, collided near the seven-eighths pole during training following the 7:45 a.m. renovation break.
According to NYRA, on-site attending veterinarians responded immediately but the injuries suffered by Where’s Chris were too severe, necessitating he be euthanized on track. Constitutionlawyer was vanned back to Handal’s barn, but he died within 30 minutes of the accident, according to Handal who believes the horse had a fractured pelvis and internal bleeding.
