13yo Hipocrates (PR) (Mi Preferido [PR]) has been retired by the Caribbean Aftercare after 197 starts. he hadn't won since 2019 (99 starts).
they also retired 4yo Tico G (Jess's Dream) through the same connections.

Really? Finally?
For others, in 2024 Hipocrates had raced 9 times. Only beating 2 horses who were both lame and had lost by a just a tiny bit under a combined 500 lengths(not a typo).

I don't understand what the point is of continuing to race horses like this. It can't possibly be profitable.

at Camarero i don't think it's profitable. boarding fees are kinda high iirc and purses are shit, especially when you're finishing dead last in claimers all the time.

SW Chris and Dave, 2013 gelding, who ended up in Puerto Rico this year, had his retirement secured by his breeder. Wish it didn't have to be his breeder who did it but its nice that someone stepped up and retired this old boy.
MSW Sope, 2017 gelding, who has raced in Puerto Rico most of his career, was retired by his owner. Its nice to see an owner that doesn't run their horses just to run them and when it didn't look like he wanted to race anymore they retired him. Cause let's be honest, doesn't happen often in PR.

G3w Hopkins (Quality Road). awaiting on a stud deal.
i'd assume he was injured again recently because he was working until last week.

but Flanders, if they retire him now, he'll never have the chance to prove he deserves to stand for 100k in KentuckyFlanders wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 1:24 pmSomehow he isn't... yet. If Rich Strike were to retire now (which he should), what would one of you think his stud fee would be if he were to be stood somewhere?
