It is a bit shocking...and sad...that we are only now hearing about Blind Luck.
She was a tremendous racehorse, and I will always remember that spirited little chestnut coming down the stretch with her tail flagged like her Arabian ancestors.

MG3SW Shamida, 4yof (Australia - Shamooda, by Azamour) died recently. Not sure why, Racingpost has her listed as having died. She had just won the G3 Give Thanks S. at Cork in mid August.

I believe that Karasi is one of the greatest jumpers Japanese fans have ever seen along with Oju Chosan.

Sad to see she's passed, just last night I was working on a project about the accomplishments of the dams of 2024's G1 winners and she came up. It's especially sad when broodmares pass, they bring literal life to the industry. Rest easy, big girl

Additionally, it seems G2P Air Vice Marshal (War Front - Gold Vault, by Arch) died sometime after January 2024. He had been standing in Turkey since 2020. Air Vice Marshal is a 1/2 brother to MG1W Contested and a full brother to SW sire Mosler. He is also from the immediate family of MG1W Pomeroy among others.

Air Vice Marshal is listed as being deceased on Anne Peters' Pedigree Consultant website. I am trying to track down another source for this.

Pensioned broodmare Good Glory (Storm Broker x Taste of Glory by Sauce Boat) died September 27, 2024. She was rescued by R.A.C.E Fund from a kill pen and was in quarantine while she had a relapse in her health.

Broodmare Siren's Call (Elusive Fort × Siren's Cove), who almost won the 2015 South Africa Triple Tiara, was euthanized in late September due to laminitis. She was 13.

Her best foal is the filly Sound of Warning (by Trippi), a G1-placed G2 winner. She is now a broodmare.

She was euthanized the same week her 4 y/o son Call to Unite (by Vercingetorix) won his first stakes race.

She has three young, unraced progeny: Warning Sound (2021 f. by Lancaster Bomber), Warning Light (2022 c. by Gimmethegreenlight), and a 2023 filly (by What a Winter.)

According to the India Stud Book, the following stallions have died this year…

MGSW Whatsthescript (Royal Applause × Grizel, by Lion Cavern) was euthanized in February. A millionaire, he ran from age two through seven, placing in stakes each year. He finished third in the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) behind winner Goldikova and runner-up Kip Deville. Whatsthescript entered stud in California in 2010 and later moved to India. He was 20.

G2W Mull of Kintyre (Danzig × Retrospective, by Easy Goer) died in August. He originally entered stud at Coolmore in 2002 but later moved to India. He is the sire of Araafa, who won the St. James Palace Stakes and Irish 2,000 Guineas, from his first crop in Ireland. He was 27.

G3W Mohaafeth (Frankel × French Dressing, by Sea the Stars) died in August. Mohaafeth had just entered stud there this year. He was 6.

SW Tenth Star (Dansili × Alpha Lupi, by Rahy) died in August. He is a ½ brother to Alpha Centauri, Alpine Star, and Discoveries. Therefore, he is a direct descendant of prolific mares Miesque and East of the Moon. He was 15.

Seven quarter horses were euthanized for Equine Infectious Anemia at Los Alamitos. All were trained by Heath Taylor.

7 y/o gelding Big Bad Bud (Algorithms × Tara Bara, by Giant’s Causeway) collapsed and died on track October 1, 2024 while walking back to the barn post race at Finger Lakes. Chart indicates he was pulled up without obvious injury. He won a race last June. An investigation/autopsy is pending per NYRA.

His record is 68: 9-6-7 / $145,420.

7 y/o mare Car Lady (Colonel John × Fonda Ronda Two, by Prized) was found dead in her stall September 23, 2024 at Finger Lakes. An investigation/autopsy is pending per NYRA.

Her record is 50: 10-8-12 / $160,895.

11-year-old mare Misses Knight (Misremembered x Wonderwho'sbest by Three Wonders) was euthanized due to chronic infection in one of her feet that could not be managed with pain meds and proper veterinary care. She was rescued out of a kill pen in North Carolina by R.A.C.E Fund less than a month ago.
