There are outriders, but they don’t chase the loose horses, they round them up from the pens (for the loose horses to run into) and bring them back.

I’m not sure how you think they would be able to catch the horses when they run at the front of the field without interfering with those still racing?

Well not the ones in front but the ones in the back. They do really good camera work if we don't see them

A horse and rider went down in the stretch of the 6th at Keeneland. The rider is sitting up, but unsure of horse status. It may have been caused by another horse impeding the faller. Clipped heels? :?
Tyler G. up and OK, but the horse, Master of the Ring, may have been injured. :(

The incident report from Keeneland:

Details: In the stretch of race 6, Foreign Relations (#1) abruptly impeded the path of Master of the Ring (#11). The horses clipped heels and caused Master of the Ring to go down in the stretch, unseating jockey Tyler Gaffalione. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione was cleared to ride in the following race. After the evaluation from the KHRC veterinary team, it was determined that Master of the Ring suffered a sublaxated right carpus which was catastrophic in nature. #1 Foreign Relations was disqualified by the stewards as a result of the incident.

Thanks. It's not altogether clear what happened when you watch the replay.

Lioness of Brittany broke down in the 6th at Gulfstream. Another horse fell over her I think it was the three tactical pajamas. Riders went down hard

Fandrool just relayed news that all three riders walked off (although one has been replaced in the next race), but no news yet on the horses. :(

A horse was pulled and dismounted in the 7th at Keeneland, a 6-furlong Allowance for 3yo fillies. I think it was the #4 Devious Stares, but I'm not sure. Waiting on an update.

I hope they're okay? And there was a third horse involved?

Just got a Fandrool update on Ward's Devious Stares...she's OK, rider just pulled her up when he thought he felt something amiss.

The chart says Lionessofbrittany and Strong Silent were both euthanized  but Tactical Pyjamas walked off after falling over the other horses.

Here is the full stewards report from Keeneland if anyone is interested :)

“Out of an abundance of caution, jockey John Velazquez pulled Devious Stares up after the start of the race. She was evaluated back at the barn and found to have superficial lacerations in her right foreleg, which she is being treated for, and lameness noted in her right front and right hind leg without obvious signs noted clinically for the lameness. She remains comfortable and fully weight bearing in all limbs and will continue to be closely monitored at the barn.”

Sounds like John V's HOF expertise protected this filly when she needed it most.

i have been following this thread closely after seeing the horrid incident-- I hoped and prayed it wasnt as bad as it looked. At least one horse survived. So sad-- i wished i hadnt seen it.
