The In Memory of our Racehorses page on Facebook (I know she is a member here) reported the breakdown and death of Disintermediate. I am hoping it's not the Smart Strike x Life Is Sweet colt, but that's the only horse by that name I can find. Any more info?

I fear that's who it is. Equibase shows the Smart Strike x Life Is Sweet colt as having had several works at Golden Gate, but nothing since December 7.Oldowan wrote:The In Memory of our Racehorses page on Facebook (I know she is a member here) reported the breakdown and death of Disintermediate. Seems we're missing a bunch, sadly, so here are a few I've noticed in the Stewards notes. Every horse deserves a last mention at the very least.

She's All Yours-Hollywood Park R9-DNF Vanned Off Euthanized 11/17

Sorry to deliver the bad news. Just breezing through the CA stewards reports last night and it blew me away at how many deaths there are weekly. Especially in training.

Was so hopeful that he would somehow make it through his struggle. He fought the good fight, but damn that dreadedThreeMustangs wrote:Black Caviar's half-brother Jimmy didn't make it:

It appears that it may never be known for sure what caused the original infection. And that financial situation is such a mess...but I don't believe that the vet care for Jimmy was compromised. Whoever was going to end up with the colt, I'm sure that they wanted him to recover.

I agree. Unfortunately, what with the financial mess, it was just a question of time before this sort of ugly speculation would surface.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:It appears that it may never be known for sure what caused the original infection. How sad, R. I. P to both Jimmy and Silver Train.

Stakes winning, unbeaten 2yo Piping Rock was put down due to colic. He was Godolphin owned and trained by Richard Hannon Jr. They thought he was their best hope in the 2,000 Guinness next year.

It sounds like Silver Train was stricken while he was being transported. What a nightmare for the horse and his handlers...stuck on a plane with no way to get him to an equine hospital? Even if they had a vet accompanying the horse, the options available to treat him may have been pretty limited.
