This just in from our News Desk At Vinton TV Network
Jim Beam & Johnny Walker Reporting:
Several Horses have broken through a Gate at
Delta Downs Racetrack and we now have a stampede
running down Interstate 10, Near Vinton
The Sky-Tracker Helicopter is keeping the Horses in sight
working in conjunction with the Ground Command of the
Vinton Mounted Patrol (VMP) & The Vinton Police Force (VPF)
Connections of all the Horses have been notified & each have offered
Reward Money for the Safe Return of their Horse
VPF Patrol Cars are following the runaway horses on the Interstate
There are tall grasslands on either side of the highway so the
hope is that some or all of the Horses may notice that -
deciding to stop, graze & not run!
We have also been informed that Tiger Dancer & Real Quiet
remained in the pasture at the track, apparently not interested
in an Adventure on a Highway, preferring grazing with each other
Updates from Sky Tracker:
Ruffian & Stark were just seen taking an exit off the I-10
onto a side road leaving the other 7 still on the Highway
VMP is in pursuit of those two very fast horses
VPF reports that Oaklawn Capper is leading the other 6
Horses down the highway causing cars to pull over quickly
or be trampled!
Apparently wild horses running down the Interstate is more
effective than flashing blue & red lights on Police Cars!
As another off ramp exit approaches, Oaklawn Capper
followed by Blunny, John Henry, Cigarshop, Catalina,
And Dusty have decided to head that way off the highway
Criminal Type now running alone on the Interstate has
several Vinton Patrol Cars on his tail
Since he is not running very fast
the VPF was able to surround him causing him to stop
as the VMP joined the effort to lasso the Runaway
& lead him back to the Horse Trailer
We have another report coming in from the side road exit area,
where Ruffian & Stark pursued by the VMP - tell us they were able
to contain those two when they stopped to graze in a pasture
They are now on their way back to the track
VPF has notified us that they are very close to rounding up
the remaining 6 who finally got tired enough and decided
grazing is better than running!
Delta Downs Officials are telling us that all nine horses
have finally been returned to the track & appear to be unharmed
--- eager to chow down on oats & hay
We also have been informed that Stark & Ruffian chose
to lay down in their stalls to nap, as both appeared to be
exhausted due to their high speed chase
The Owners have now posted their reward money
Stark = $79.20
Ruffian = $78.80
Oaklawn Capper = $63.80
Blunny = $52
John Henry = $51.20
Cigarshop = $47
Catalina = $28.40
Dusty = $24.30
Criminal Type = $12.40
So all's well that ends well as 9 runaway Horses are
safe - sound and tired thanks to the unified effort of
the Vinton Air Command, Mounted Patrol & Police Force
The Track superintendent informed us that the reward
money will be invested in stronger, safer gates!
