Welcome to the first annual
"Ruffian says we are not thoroughbreds" steeplechase race.
Ten thoroughbreds have made it to the starting line
with 6 colts and 4 fillies looking for BOTS glory
As the flag drops 8 contestants break clean with
Raven, Real Quiet, Thunder Cat and Dusty in the lead pack
Tiger Dancer shows no speed and Cruzan has refused at the start
After 6 of the 9 fences the race is being run clean and safe
but definitely on the slow side
Real Quiet is holding onto a narrow lead over Thunder Cat and Raven
Dusty, Digger and Roamin are tracking the leaders but show no speed
Blunny, Tiger Dancer and Ruffian appear to have no interest in jumping
Cruzan is ahead of the field but only because he is still at the starting line
as the field swoops by him on the second time around the track.
As the field hits the last jump Raven has assumed command
holding a narrow lead over a tiring Real Quiet who hits the last jump
doing an Earthquake McGoon imitation as the grandstand shakes
Blunny and Thunder Cat appear to be the main challengers to the flying high Raven
As the finish line approaches 6 horses get into high gear
and one of those is Raven who takes the winners prize easily
The rest of the field says "Nevermore" to jumping
Cruzan the Closer finally left the starting gate
nearly caught Roamin in the stretch but still gets the keys to the DOG
House Congrats to Raven on the win
and for getting the Gold for the COLTS on BOTS day
