I understood that Racingpost made that list for the yearlings sold.
But, if any interest, the most expensive horse (foal or yearling or 2yo) sold at the public auction in Japan is Daoine Sith(JPN), 2006F. King Kamehameha(JPN) x To the Victory(JPN) by Sunday Silence(USA).
She was sold for ¥ 630,000,000 (US$ 5.5m) at JRHA Select Sale Foals session in 2006.

And here below is the link to the most expensive horses (top 50 horses) sold at the public auction in Japan.
