The estate of Bob Lothenbach has decided to do a complete dispersal of the stable. Starting with a Digital dispersal of horses of racing age, aged 3yo and up, there will be ~90 horses offered. Catalog isn't up yet
The broodmares and yearlings will be offered at the Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale and there are 65. They are supplemental entries and start with hip 451. https://www.fasigtipton.com/2024/Kentuc ... er-Mixed#/ This includes G1 Bell's The One.
2yos aren't mentioned maybe they are being sold at a 2yo sale later?

I just realized that he owned Hollidazzle (and probably also named her). He's a Minnesotan and Hollidazzle is the name of the big holiday lights parade they do in Minneapolis! Also explains the mare Eden Prairie (a Twin Cities suburb).Flanders wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 5:09 am https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... -dispersal

In any case, lots of nice mares from his disposal.

That explains the name, I couldn't figure out where it came from but being out of Parade Queen makes it very clever. She was bought by Lothenbach as an unnamed yearling. I was going to highlight names in families that stuck out to me for his mares but after looking it was going to be nearly every mare.starrydreamer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 1:01 pmHowever, I just realized that he owned Hollidazzle (and probably also named her). One I found interesting was Ambusher. Her 3rd dam is MG1SW Coup De Fusil, who was one of the best by the ill-fated Codex. She raced against Personal Ensign, Lady's Secret, and won the 1987 Ruffian Handicap via a DQ over Champions Sacahuista, Clabber Girl and North Sider.

Faced with the prospect of losing 19 of the 22 horses he trains, Neil Pessin bought 5 out of the Lothenbach HORA dispersal. He tried to buy more but was outbid.

I only know what it says in searching. He was found paralyzed in his stall in August 1984 and they euthanized him.sweettalk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 10:13 amspeaking of codex, what exactly happened? or do they know? reared and fell? fell trying to get up/lay down? virus?Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 3:24 pmThat explains the name, I couldn't figure out where it came from but being out of Parade Queen makes it very clever.
