The fee for top 10 freshman sire Audible and top 12 second-crop sire Always Dreaming will be announced at a later date based on results in the coming month.
If they think they can raise Always Dreaming's fee based on Saudi Crown, they need to put the crackpipe down. He hasn't sired any other stakes horses in 2023. Also strange that they raised Global Campaign back to 12.5k going into his 4th year at stud, he had stood for that fee in 2021 & 2022. All 2023 stallions are still on the roster (at this point). Last year they had announced Tourist as a TBD for 2023 and he was sold about a month later.

i wonder when they'll pension Speightstown. he is turning 26 next year and it doesn't even look like they're restricting his books.

and the fact they kept Nashville at the same fee tells me there were enough breeders supporting him with good mares at that price, which is WILD.

For standing at Winstar, he never bred big books, the highest I saw (I didn't look at every year) was 133 and he got 81 this year. So they have restricted it. Maybe they'll restrict it more next year. Most farms only pension stallions when there is a reason to do so, either fertility or a physical ailment that prevents them from covering.

Distorted Humor covered 29 mares (and produced 13 live foals) in his final season (2021) when he was 28. So assuming Speightstown can still perform the job relatively comfortably I'm sure Win$tar will continue to have him cover mares. Heck, even if he can't perform the job comfortably, they've proven they'll still try to make the horse breed.

i know Maximus Mischief is the leading 1st crop sire and all, but isn't that a BIG jump?

Yeah its a huge jump. He has stood for 7.5k since he went to stud. Sure he is leading the freshman sire list right now but he doesn't have a GSW yet and he doesn't have an insane amount of SWs, he has 2.

I really hope that doesn't mean Karakontie is being sold... :( It just feels like anytime a stallion is TBD for no valid reason its usually a sign.

I had already forgotten Loggins was going to stud at Hill N Dale....

I hope Karakontie isn't being sold either. Maybe they're waiting to see how She Feels Pretty fares in the Juvenile Fillies Turf? If she goes, she should be one of the top choices.

the BH article listing the fees makes it sound like that's the reason.

Yeah but... he hasn't ever been that popular. Why would they raise his fee? I think 2023 was the most he got in a while but it wasn't even 100 mares.

Stallion: 2024 Fee (2023 Fee)

Three Chimneys:
Funtastic: $5,000 (=)
Gun Runner: $250,000 (Private)
Palace Malice: $7,500 (=)
Sky Mesa: $10,000 (=)

i'm honestly surprised they aren't at least lowering Palace Malice's fee.

I thought I saw somewhere that PM was being pensioned, but if they went back on that, it's not a big deal.

They DOUBLED Gun Runner's already-high fee? Wow.
I know he's been terrific, but that's a bit stratospheric. ;)
