Two year old in training sales

It is both sad and amusing to see a two year old that clearly does not want to go that fast this early.
Rider whales away with the whip.
Two year old: "F off. This is fast as I plan to go today."
Riders whips some more.
Two year old: "Nope. Still going this exact same speed."
Rider, exhausted, gives up early in the turn off the gallop out.
Two year old: ears up, happily gallops around the turn.

From the Blood-Horse:
The only blight on an otherwise strong day came during the set featuring turf workers. Hip 47, a colt by Ashford Stud's American Pharoah who was consigned by Scanlon Training & Sales, dropped his exercise rider ahead of his scheduled breeze. The colt ran loose in the opposite direction on the track before colliding with the inside turf rail. Injured from the impact, the colt was disoriented and waded into the infield pond where he suffered a catastrophic collapse.
"It was an unfortunate incident. Obviously, it occurred before the horse trained," said Browning. "The horse dropped its rider, ran through the rail, and suffered a catastrophic injury.

Poor baby. How awful. Horses can find so many ways to hurt themselves.

Going to. . .Baffert. The rich get richer.
Todd Schrupp said a couple of weeks ago that someone from the Baffert camp told him that at the 2020 yearling sales, maybe due to shifting buying patterns, their people got every single horse they wanted.

Arrogate died in June, 2020, so his last crop is being born this season.

One of the fastest works at OBS today (20 3/5) was hip 996, a gray colt with a modest pedigree. [Valiant Minister ex La Nonna - Unbridled Song). It'll be interesting to watch where the bidding lands.

A Valiant Minister filly who clocked at 20.4 sold for 360K. Not bad for a first crop stallion who stands at $3k.
