Fipke cancels stud fee contracts for 2020

Due to the economic hardship brought on in 2020 by Coronavirus, all stallions will stand the 2020 breeding season at NO charge. Breeders with already signed contracts will have fees waived and zero contract fees will be issued for any new contracts for the remainder of the breeding season. This applies to all his stallions including Bee Jersey, tale of ekati, tale of verve, Danish dynaformer, perfect timber, forever d'oro and jersey town... You know say what you want about Fipke, the guy may not have the most creative mind when it comes to naming his horses but you have got to admit this is one GENEROUS offer he's brought to the table

It’s a win-win. Attracts mares to support stallions, more babies=better chance for striking gold, and supports the little guy!

Wow, that's amazing. I hope all his stallions 2021 crops knock 'em out of the park and reward both him and the breeders for his generosity.

I think it's pretty remarkable. I hope some good ones hit the ground next year.

A wonderful and shrewd decision by Mr. Fipke, hopefully both he and breeders are rewarded a couple years down the line! I have been reading online that a couple of the big farms in Australia are already planning on lowering their fees for Autumn 2020 so that breeders will take less of a hit.

Good for him. The medium and small breeding establishments have been struggling for a while even before this outbreak.

TDN has an article that says since Fipke's announcement on Monday his stallions have had at least 50 new mares booked to them. Also another stallion owner, Ben Hutzel, who owns Passion For Action, that stands at Colebrook (where Danish Dynaformer and Perfect Timber stand), has also offered his stallion for free for the 2020 breeding season.

And that's just 50 inquiries for the Darby Dan stallions! It looks like the other non-Kentucky stallions have garnered some interest as well. Great to see.

Rockridge Stud is doing something interesting. Every week through the end of May, they'll be doing a drawing for a free season to the stallion of your choice for 2021.
