They think its linked to the hot, dry summers/early falls the previous year, as all the outbreaks have happened after this has occurred.

The farm has so many mares on doxycycline because of how high it is this year. One of the mares has been bagged up since December and she’s not due until 3/17. I guess the bacteria is sensitive to doxycycline this year
