FIRES IN AUSTRAILIA

I am wondering about the horses in Australia-- racing and breeding: haven't heard anything so I am hoping the horse farms are not affected. I was thinking about Winx, Black Caviar and others and wondering if they are safe. I don't know anything about the geography of Australia.. My heart is breaking for humans and animals (500 million animals are said to have perished). This is a tragedy of unfathomable proportions- and I pray for all humans and animals in the path of this horror.

I'm don't know where all the farms are, but most of the farms are away from the forest fires where it's taking place. I know one person who lives in the national park had the back of her house burned and nothing else (surprisingly according to her) even her brumbies survived the fire. But I don't think none of the farms are effected. But I 100% know that an training farm near Wisemen's Ferry (with over 100 young and older racehorses) being affected that they had to try and evacuate. Not sure if they managed to evacuated all the horses, but they were in the worst spot as they were close to the main fire problem. Last I heard from my teacher (who's son is the trainer for the place), I think they couldn't get out as the roads were blocked but they managed to evacuated most of the horses and the rest stayed behind to try and protect the rest of the horses. But that was last month when I last heard, but it was pretty bad as my teacher was trying not to cry in the classroom.

But I'm not sure about the other breeding farms sadly, while most of the other horses are fine but due to bad smoke they have cancelled a lot of meetings across the country, a few jockeys in Australia have volunteered to help by donating their money $250 each winner they ride (I think it was $250 sorry). Even Magic Millions is donating to the fires each horses in the catalog they enter or sell (forgot but I read it recently)

I also believe magic millions is housing fire evacuees. I saw a video on the horses evacuated staying in the barn

Thanks for the updates. The photos I have seen are devastating just to look at.
