Just started to look at these, but 252 each for Mendelssohn and Justify. Hope you regained your strength this summer boys, because I doubt they're going to give you a break anytime soon.

Lots more to dig into, so there goes the rest of the morning.

Shaman Ghost got 68 in Kentucky, which is down from the 90 something (I think) he got in California, but I imagine the mares were of higher quality.

Hoppertunity got 129!

Destin got 84 in New York.

As de Trebol, Tapit's mini-me, got 17.

The Player got 13 in Kentucky.

Mylute's not on there. Wah. It sure is interesting seeing the names of boys I've never heard of that get 1 or 2 mares a year.

I find myself losing much respect of Coolmore as I have disrespect for Winstar.

Mendelssohn/Justify – 252 (Crazy books, go Mendy!)
Sharp Azteca – 195 (Great start)
Destin – 84 (Respectable NY Book)
Oscar Performance – 118 (Nice support of a quality turf horse)

Better books than they deserve (IMO)

Klimt -187

Nice rebounds / Observations

English Channel – 115 (Biggest book in a couple years)
Mucho Macho Man – 86 (after a low of 35 two years ago)
Get Stormy – 86 (market responds with good runners, after 47 last year)
Jeronimo – 33 (nice turf horse, holding steady with a decent number in CA)
I’ll Have Another – 42 (I’m sure the buyers were hoping for a little better)
Star Guitar – 65 (decent LA number)
The Player – 13 (just happy he’s around)
Uncle Mo – 241, Goldencents - 239, Into Mischief -241 (marketplace speaks)
Khozan – 107 (Big fee raise next year, but staying in FL)
War Front – 81 (Managing book because of fertility?)

Wait Until Next Year

Constitution – 85 (What a bump he will get next year, in fee and numbers)
Fiber Sonde – 37 (With two graded states winners this year)
Hightail – 12 (With a Grade One winner, Calumet returning him to KY)

Misc:

Afleet Alex – 25
Alpha – 8
Animal Kingdom -40 (Better prospects in Japan)
Big Blue Kitten – 28 (low fertility rate I’ve heard)
Fort Larned -17
Funtastic – 27 (New, Nice pedigree, probably needed a regional market)
Fusaichi Pegasus – 5
Gio Ponti – 13 (Heartbreaking, I want Drefong in Japan to be a big success)
Mizzen Mast – 27
Mohaymen – 52 (A low number, all considering)
Oxbow – 23 (Calumet giving up on their Classic winner)
Pioneerof the Nile – 48 (May there be one more great one in there)

Verrazano – 18
Will Take Charge – 56 (Still hasn’t had that one big runner, and needs it)

He was gelded at some point. I looked him up on the JC registry for you. He only covered mares in 2018.

Bodemeister - 42

Algorithms - 14 (surprised he is still at Claiborne)

How does a stallion go from 223 mares in 2018 to 53 mares in 2019 when its only his 2nd year at stud. Are they now starting to give up on stallions that early?
hadrianmarcus wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2019 11:56 am War Front – 81 (Managing book because of fertility?)

Will Take Charge – 56 (Still hasn’t had that one big runner, and needs it)
War Front only covered 82 in 2018 but he has never covered big books. I think 110-ish is the max he has ever covered.
Will Take Charge - really surprised he got that many given his lack of success at stud so far.

In the Mid-atlantic, Golden Lad appears to be well received, covering 89 mares...Even though Great Notion is starting to get up there, he still covered 71

Per Joe Nevills:

"Here is a look at the stallions that went over the 140-mare mark in the
@jockeyclub's 2019 Report of Mares Bred. If the 140-mare cap were in place, that would have created 1,397 "free agent" mares."

Just wanted to mention that it makes me irrationally happy that the Williams bred Tamarack Bay (Dehere) to California Chrome this year. She is getting up there and will be 21 so just hope the mating took and all is well. The past two years, she has been bred to Tapit for two colts, the 2018 model is named Rackataptap, a name I really quite love. Also noted quite a few Uncle Mo mares along with some Mizzen Masts being sent to him. I am interested in seeing if the two more distantly diverged Nasrullah lines come back together with sparks. Along those same lines, have always wondered if he would do well crossed with Sir Percy or Le Havre mares.

Conquest Mo Money got 21 in New Mexico. He was a nice little guy and I hope he finds success in his home state.

I expect the $1,000 wonder Fiber Sonde's book to double next year with the success of Runnin'toluvya, Late Night Pow Wow, Penguin Power, Dr Feelgood, Loving Touch, etc etc. It really is extraordinary what he's doing with small books of WV mares.

T F Classic Twist is one of note on the bottom of the list. The 1 is deceiving as h mostly breeds sporthorse mares, but he is the last intact representative of the Byerley Turk sireline not through Indian Ridge (not counting the Gem Twist clones that can't be JC registered). He is moving to Louisiana next season to stand at...Blackwing Connemara Ponies. Hopefully a few more TB mares can sneak in and produce a nice colt to carry on his line.

My award for Most Mares Bred By a Stallion I've Never Heard Of goes to Redesdale with 81 mares paying $5,000 for what would be a really nice gelding.

And my annual They're Still Around?! awards:
Petionville (bred 5 mares at 27 years young)
Wagon Limit
Swiss Yodeler
Diamond
Country Be Gold
David Copperfield (last son of Halo at stud)
Songandaprayer ("pensioned" in 2018 but still bred 2 mares?)
Captain Bodgit

Redesdale- being by Speightstown out of a full sister to Danehill will always interest a few, no matter the race record or lack there of.

Speaking of Speightstown, Fiber Sonde being a half brother to him and already demonstrating ability to improve mares, if I am a breed to race mare owner, I am looking at that $1000 fee and thinking of shipping a few nice mares up there to see what comes of it.

I'm actually shocked Justify got that many at that price.
Not shocked about Mendy.

My brain also for some reason had decided Afleet Alex and FuPeg were pensioned.

Keep in mind for Shaman Ghost that he switched midway through the season so did not get a full season to cover in KY.

Souper Speedy - 104 (up from 23 in 2018), he has the most SWs(5) of all North America based 2nd crop sires, he stands in Canada, and only has 34 starters.

Yes - War Front's book has always been limited.

My list has only 73 of his 81 mares, so I guess I have some more digging to do.

Hightail, who has moved back to Kentucky for 2020, got 12 in Arkansas. Not sure what he'll get back in Kentucky but I think it's quite impressive the dude has a G1 winner (Mongolian Groom) and 2 stakes winners (Dynatail, MG) with just 9 to race. He also has a GSW in the Dominican Republic (Imperial Royal).

From the top three busiest studs, two are half-brothers and two are by Scat Daddy. Say what you want about the potential Jockey Club limit, but it certainly wouldn't hurt the gene pool....
