I put the article in the Stallion News but I think when a stallion of his caliber is pensioned it needs its own thread.

We saw him at Adena Springs the day after this year's Derby. He looked superb, he knows he's the King. The stallion manager and the handlers were so very proud of him.

They also pensioned Milwaukee Brew and Sligo Bay.

His legacy as a stallion hasn't been written in full just yet. He's a solid broodmare sire and that isn't going to end anytime soon.

I still remember his decisive win in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Classic, surely one of the greatest Classic fields ever assembled.
And he was even better as a stallion.
Happy [full] retirement, Awesome Again.

I really do hope Shaman Ghost throws some good ones.
And I hope Oxbow's career picks up, and I hope Sir Winston makes it one day.

End of an era, as he really got Adena Springs off the ground in both the racing and breeding sides of their business. It's also the end of an era to see their top Canadian boys Milwaukee Brew and Sligo Bay be pensioned. They travelled between the different Adena farms (Kentucky, Ocala, Aurora), but they really found their niche in the Canadian program and produced consistently nice horses.
Touch Gold, Alphabet Soup, Awesome Again, Milwaukee Brew, and Sligo Bay are winding down, the only new stallion they have had in the last 4 years (at the Kentucky farm) is their homebred Shaman Ghost, the Kentucky farm is for sale, and the family is having a very difficult internal conflict... the end is inevitable but I hope that it's still a long ways away.
Hopefully Mucho Macho Man and Shaman Ghost can get some runners.
