I've spent all morning looking through my dresser drawers and under the couch cushions trying to scrounge up enough change to buy hip 498. ;)

I’m surprised they’re selling her because I thought they wanted to keep her to continue on the legacy.

I wonder if her gangly brother has grown into himself yet.

Hip 336 is out of Daisy Mason, who is out of Leslie's Lady. A colt by Nyquist. Maybe he'll be more affordable?

Looove the name Daisy Mason, because it's a Downton Abbey name.

I don't think it was meant to be, as it was submitted on 1/22/09, well before the first episode of Downton Abbey ever aired.

I was just wondering to myself how much that little lady will go for. I am going to assume a lot more than I will ever see in this lifetime!

I’ve heard that her AP filly is the best looking foal she’s had yet... I’m a tad skeptical after her Medaglia d’Oro colt went unsold, but if she’s as lovely as they claim she is, she could be another sales topper.

I mean, it’s an “ok” family... I’m sure no one will even notice that boring page.

All of the Phipps yearling colts are to be offered at the sale, aside from Clubbing who is owned in partnership. The Abaco filly will remain at the farm.

This has to do with yearling sales in general, but the Fasig Tipton mid-Atlantic sale catalog just came out, and two of the more interesting (at least on paper) Chrome yearlings will be offered there, and both have some recent gleam to the pedigree. The Formalities Aside colt is from the immediate female family of Well Armed. It is also the family of Mr. Money. The Occasionally filly is just the second foal from the winning full sister to Tizahit, the dam of Come Dancing. This is also the same extended family as Smarty Jones, and thus is tail female to La Troienne. I have no idea how these two look on the hoof, but their pedigrees look better than some of the ones I am seeing from Chrome's early book Keeneland yearlings.

I think consigners look at the yearling and where he/she may or may not stand out. Those Chrome yearlings at the mid-atlantic sale might get lost in the very large Keeneland September crowd, but they're stand outs at the mid-atlantic sale (big fish in a small pond vs a smaller fish in a very large pond).

TDN has a video about Leslie's Lady. It shows the very nice looking AP - Leslie's Lady filly, she really looks like AP. They said more than likely this is the last Leslie's Lady that will go through the ring. The family plans to keep her weanling and next years foal.

I can't find a normal link to it.. its just in their video bar. :( Also shows the Not This Time-Leslie's Lady foal and says she is carrying a filly by Kantharos.

Sam-Son selling their “best”. I’m kind of bummed about this because I love seeing their horses run. I will still follow these horses, but it won’t be the same.

I’m not only an ideal specimen of my species, a half to two stallions and a champion race mare, sired by a Triple Crown winner and promising young sire, but I’m also cute as a button. #498 American Pharoah x Leslie’s Lady #Mendelssohn #IntoMischief #Beholder #BlueBlood #KeeSept19

From what I’ve heard, she inherited AP’s sweetheart disposition. I’ll be surprised if she isn’t one of the sales toppers.

On that note, does anyone know where Leslie’s Lady’s MDO colt is? I expected to hear something about him by this point.

I saw her half bro by MdO when he was a foal, and Leslie in foal to this very filly. Hope she sells well and stays in USA. I remember the farm said they were keeping this AP filly, wonder what happened.. probably to the early success of the sire
