Got $5k? You can be the proud owner of Sincerely Yours, Giant's Causeway x Entwine (Flute x Empire Maker).

I find it so interesting going down the list of a lot of regional and breed-to-race bloodlines and then run into a mare like this. Wonder what the thought process is here. Dam was a $100k broodmare prospect and is half to a G2SW. Flute isn't an epic producer beyond that but she has 4 winners in 8 runners. I suppose I may just not get the breeding side of things, but could really not sell her for even a slightly higher price as bloodstock?

This is only her 3rd start, too. The Ramsays claimed her out of her debut for $15k and are already dropping her to $5k? Guess they didn't like what they saw when they got her to the barn.

Heck her uterus is worth $5000. Maybe the Ramseys found out she doesn't have one? She's better bred than most of their mares.
Flute hasn't produced anything near herself, but sometimes they skip a generation or two.

My friend did her KEMI practical at Ashford and worked with this baby. She's freaking out about how cheap she is. Honestly, she's almost worth maxing out a credit card for.
Who has a stall? We'll make it work.
She says she was kind of a runt as a wee one but she wasn't a conformational wreck or anything. It just seems like that pedigree sparkles.

This isn't the first time I've seen Ramsey drop a horse like this. He is very intent on winning races, and it doesn't look like he's terribly sentimental when it comes to letting a horse get claimed off him...as long as he gets that win stat.
As for why he isn't keeping this filly for his broodmare band...IIRC, Ramsey has strong ideas about which genetic profiles fit with his stallions, and maybe this gal, nice as she may look on paper, doesn't?

I respect that for sure, but it does seem weird (to me, and to be fair, I'm an ardent fan but not an owner/breeder) that there wouldn't be a more fruitful place to move her to her next home. But hey. Maybe someone will get a nice $5k broodie!

I need a money tree. Or a legit, working crystal ball and a lottery ticket.

I think its a plus too that she was sound enough to get to the races, although I think some breeders prefer "unraced" to "unplaced." If had the energy I'd scroll through some auction results to see what $5k can buy you. . .

She was claimed after finishing 3rd, so someone may have had the same idea. Trainer Anthony Lowry, Owner M.Y. Stables? Looks like both are out of Mahoning Valley, so perhaps she's off to try and get a win on her and/or produce some OH bred babies.

I'm surprised they haven't tried her on regular dirt or turf, maybe she just doesn't agree with the poly surface. She probably wouldn't mind some extra distance, either. The placing is encouraging though.
