I wonder how long Invasor and Corinthian will remain in KY? Invasor got 14 mares, Corinthian got 11. Ouch.

Yeah, probably not much longer, along with Harlington, who only got 4. They would do better in a smaller, regional market. Mr. Melnyk lists Harlington under stallions at Winding Oaks in Florida, wonder if he will just end up their full time rather than remaining in KY?BlindLucky wrote:I wonder how long Invasor and Corinthian will remain in KY? Ontario took a huge hit thanks to the government. Only 726 mares were bred.

Wonder how long the remaining stallions last in the province before they ship out? I would not be surprised if Hill N dale sells one of their properties in the area. It seems like they are boarding less and less mares each year.
Its amazing how quickly the government can decimate an entire industry. Scary.
Any word on the standardbred side of the Ontario industry in terms of mares bred?

Yes and I thought they had 2 excellent values in Majestic Warrior and Scat Daddy, plus one of the best unproven young stallions in Uncle Mo. It's probably just a reflection of fewer mares being bred overall.Northport wrote:I was shocked to see no coolmore stallions over 200

I read that the offer was more money than they could make in over 5 years of stud fees. They put a clause into the contract, that they can buy him back if he has enough stakes winners in his first crop.amfuller wrote:I was surprised by Hansen's 147. I figured that he possibly didn't get a good book and that reason prompted his selling? Obviously that's not the case so I wonder what it was, I guess good old fashion money.

I agree, I was shocked at the number of mares he got.Flanders wrote:Afleet Express - 9

In the how the hell did they convince that many people category:
Maclean's Music - 121
Just seems like an awful lot of mares for a horse who made one start, when producing stallions were hardly getting mares.

My guess is that Scat Daddy's fee of $30,000 cooled off some interest.mariasmon wrote:Yes and I thought they had 2 excellent values in Majestic Warrior and Scat Daddy, plus one of the best unproven young stallions in Uncle Mo. How old is Fly Til Dawn now? Obviously pensioned eons ago, but it seems he gets one mare a year. I wonder if he's stopping them or not? What an old school pedigree. If I had a mare, I'd honestly try and see if I'd get them to let me use him for her.

He is 27. Last year was actually the first year he covered a mare since 2006. According to the JC, he covered one mare last year and had one foal this year.Ioya Two wrote:How old is Fly Til Dawn now? I don't know if he was ever pensioned. He had stood at Spendthrift. B. Wayne Hughes bought Spendthrift in 2004 and left the stallions stay there for a couple years. He had the farm renovated and in 2008, he moved his own stallions in. All the stallions that had been there when Hughes bought the property were gone by the time he moved his own stallions in.

How many stallions have their books limited? I believe War Front does, which is why he only saw 105 and his son, The Factor, saw 135 (I'm sure stud fees made The Factor a cheaper alternative to his sire as well).
184 for Kitten's Joy... we're going to run out of Kitten names. Then again, considering the success he's been having, it's not surprising. I wonder how many of those mares were not owned by the Ramseys.
75 for Artie Schiller, not sure how this compares to past years. Hopefully We Miss Artie and My Conquestadory drum up more interest in him.
