Churchill Downs Seating Renovation

Churchill Downs is revamping a portion of the grandstand area to add more expensive seating.
http://www.courier-journal.com/story/mo ... /18113379/
They're taking out the boxes in 117-118 and the bleachers in what looks like sections 119 to 121 (which is where I always get seats) and are redoing the winner's circle. What does this mean? It means they're removing the best "affordable" seating ($200-$400 for Derby) and replacing it with $1200+ per seat sections. They'll lose 1800 seats, but they'll gain more in revenue with the pricing. Now it'll be much harder to get from the paddock to a decent spot at the rail to catch races even on normal days.
Even more of a reason to watch the Derby elsewhere.

Churchill only cares about the bottom line. Period.

I meant to put this in the Racing folder too, my bad. Guess I clicked the wrong section. Sorry!

I sent them some rather scathing feedback on their website. Not that it will matter, but hopefully they get a bunch of nasty-grams on the subject.

Write and complain all you want. As Mariasmon noted, nobody's listening to your complaints.

Stock is up, but as a player I can't imagine wasting more than 3 days of my life a year handicapping the crap product they put on.
Guess 2 days a year is enough to make up for it.

Going to the Derby used to be on my bucket list- hasn't been for a few years now. Race looks just fine from Sofa Downs- and I can pee/eat when I want, no lines, lol.

I've been once, on the backside. Even back there, it was hectic. But it was free, so no complaints. I have no desire to attend frontside or even as a photographer.

Santa Anita just wiped out a whole level of clubhouse seats for posh group (as in 25 people) boxes.
