His ears are forward, doesn't look to have been in a bad mood. Perhaps he just didn't care right then, or he felt like being nice. Idk. LOL

Re: Malibu Moon. Chunky?!? You're too kind. He's fat...obese...grossly overweight...much too heavy...a health problem waiting to happen, IMHO. The way he's built right now reminds me of the way Secretariat looked in his last years of retirement...and that's not a good thing.
If it's true that he's a mean SOB, it may be hard for his handlers to give him sufficient regular exercise. We could see from the photos that he gets turned out, but, after he's blown off some steam, he probably just lazes around and eats.

Agreed. One of the things I like about farms like Three Chimneys that if the stallion is sound, they get exercised.

Only if the stallion enjoys it. Point Given didn't so he was never ridden. I'm sure there are others as well.

WinStar does ride some of their stallions as well, in Western Tack. Bode looks very handsome under a Western saddle.

* That's smart of Winstar to use a Western saddle on their stallions. Aside from the fact that it makes it easier for the rider to stay on a rambunctious stud, the saddle itself sends a different signal to the horse. It does not remind the former racehorse of a racing saddle, so it's much less likely to get him excited.
* I knew someone who bought a Saddlebred...lovely, sweet horse, but one who apparently had been treated badly. I suspect that some painful practices had been used on him to try to "improve" his five-gaited abilities. My friend discovered that riding him in saddle-seat tack made him very anxious...to the point sometimes where he would not only refuse to go forward, but would back up. He was terrified that he was going to do something "wrong." When she tried a Western saddle on him, he was much more relaxed, and she was able to ride him on trails. Still a bit neurotic, but much improved.

Re: Malibu Moon's weight, it's the curse of that sireline. Malibu Moon held out longer than most. Even Bernardini is starting to look like that.

So, you're saying that the A.P. Indy's are easy keepers?

I had a pony do that to me once when I was a kid. I wouldn't ride her again. I walked her back to my grandparent's house. She got what she wanted though, nobody riding her.
