Hmm... interesting that the farm wouldn't disclose what happened.

It doesn't say that they wouldn't, but that they didn't. Perhaps they weren't asked.

Statement from someone at the farm. This must have been a nightmare for everyone concerned.

How horrible. I guess there was no way to set up an emergency surgery in the quarantine area? :(

I would assume not, sure it would have been done if possible.

Taro Iseki is the official spokesman for Oiwake Farm.
How horrible.
And I have now figured why her name was not on the Japanese studbook arrival record.
R.I.P. Unbridled Belle and her baby.

I'm wondering if the foal was born prematurely. Otherwise they were cutting things awfully close in terms of transporting her a long way.

She sold in November. If she shipped her right away would she still be in quarantine? That is just awful and even worse to know that they could have possibly saved her with surgery.

Actually, she sold in January at Keeneland. She was in the F-T November sale a few years ago.

Hadn't she lost her previous foal, or am I thinking of another mare?

No.

Mariasmon gave me this in a discussion on FB:

2YO Distorted Humor filly named Ma Belle Amore.

3YO filly by MDO named Love d'Oro

Nothing last year

Did not get in foal to Indy in 2010.

Just looked up the record- her last cover was March 30th - so about 2 weeks early for foaling?

Foal was reported as dead in 2013- from the Keenland sale info

Thanks for clarifying. I knew I saw her sell in November. Since she could potentially foal in quarantine, wouldn't it have been much smarter to leave her in the states, let her foal here, breed her again, and then ship? I hate when they die like this, and I especially hate when it could probably have been prevented.

Is Love d'Oro still in Ireland? And with whom?

Sad news, and even more sad when it wasn't just one but two (her foal) and so young. RIP to both of them. :(
